Thanks Bill. Feel a bit better knowing I don't have to rush out and replace six, brand new tires.

Tire problems are nothing new to rv's. I constantly check mine visually and always make sure tire pressure is correct. Just bought a tire pressure monitoring kit which needs to be installed.

Over the years I have found that 'ST-trailer' tires are good for about 5 years...no matter how many miles you put on them. I wanted to upgrade this unit since I only have 4 tires to spread the load of this beast!

Okay...now I'm REALLY frustrated. Went to pull one of the original wheels and can't get one of the lugs loose. I've tried cheaters and an impact gun....is Dutchmen going to cover the fact that I'm going to have to have someone chisel this thing off and ruin my wheel?

Have to look on the bright side................at least you aren't out in the middle of nowhere with a flat & found the problem.

Agreed

I feel a little bit better....Dutchmen said if I couldn't get it off to take to a warranty dealer and they'd cover it under warranty. I called the dealer and they said they could get it in next week. Said they'd never seen this before and they would check all the lugs and re-torque.

Most of the time you will find them too loose not too tight. That's why I always check mine before going out on a trip.

After a year of no problems with my 10 ply stock Westlakes, I finally replaced them to get into a G load rated tire. Several positive post on this forum and Heartland switching over to these tires on a lot of their fivers helped me decide on the Sailun S637s.

Big O Tire carries the Sailun line and has stores in all the western states (except Texas) and across the mid-west as far east as Kentucky. I bought mine from the Big O Tire in Roswell, NM. They didn't have them in the store, but I called on Tuesday and they had shipped them in from the warehouse by Thursday. The price for the 235/85R16s is not listed on their website. I was charged $169 a tire plus $15 each to mount & balance with free metal valve stems.

I was able to negotiate a small trade-in that dropped my net cost to $149 a tire and Big O also does service work so I had them lube the bearings. My total out he door for the seven tires and lube was under $1300.

I considered the G614s at close to $2500 and even switching over to 17.5 tires for over $4000. For the cost I believe the Sailun tires are my best bet.

Curious understand these tires have a slightly larger diameter. Any problems with rubbing? Wondered if they are larger any idea of how much ?

I had the same problem on one of my lugs. It was so tight it that my socket was slipping when I tried to get it off. The dealer (Best Value RV, Denton TX) got it off without batting an eye--they must see this fairly often. I am glad I discovered this while upgrading my suspension at home instead trying to change a flat out on the road.

Westlake tires are okay, but I would not rate them as stellar. Keep a close eye on the pressure and your loading. Inspect carefully for bulges and cracks prior to every trip. I have Westlakes on my Coleman, eventually will be upgrading to 15" rims and Maxxis tires.

The specs list the 235/80R16 Westlakes (front in photo) with a 30.81" diameter vs a 31.73" diameter for the 235/85R16 Sailuns (rear in photo), just about 1 inch taller. This should only be a 1/2 inch difference from the axle?

The most impressive difference between these tires... at 61 lbs the Sailuns are 150% heavier than the 39 lb Westlakes.

With just 250 miles, no rub so far. I haven't had to pull a real tight turn, but I did notice a lot less sidewall flex. The Sailuns have a good 2 inches to the fender well and 4 inches between tires. You can see from the photos... I did bend up the corners of the skirting underneath the fender well by hand.

Just another tire ( or is it tired?) story...we had our new Voltage 3970 delivered last Tuesday. CW delivered it to Prescott from Phoenix. We have been busy making some mods and getting it ready for our first trip. We did schedule to take the Voltage in to get the tires replaced with Sailuns tomorrow (Monday).

We went up to the barn to get it ready this evening to take in for the new shoes and we had a flat tire!! How much fun! We are thankful it went flat while we were at home; however couldn't it have waited for a few more hours?!

We have no idea what made it go flat...we will ask Big Os to take a look at it. They are Westlakes.

I am taking mine in tomorrow to have Sailun S637's installed. Glad to put the concerns behind us! Can't wait to see how they look and pull. Some say they are seeing better fuel milage with stiffer sidewalls. Which I guess I could see if the tires have less of a flat spot while rolling.

The extra height should help level out or rig too. Riding a little high at the hitch.

Like others have said, they are significantly more substantial than the Westlakes. Looking forward to really trying them out on a trip. We got $50 for each of our Westlakes on trade-in. In our area, ranchers are always looking for a good trailer spare, so they were willing to work out the trade-in deal.

I ended up getting all 7 mounted and balanced, with a heavy duty bolt on brass valve stem for under 1400. Feel pretty good about that number but getting 50 for each tire instead of paying 2 each tire to get rid of them would be nice!

Just had the new tires put on and found out the valve stems the RV came with were part of a recall. These particular valve stems have been known to fail which the sudden release of air could cause a blow out. Glad we decided to replace the tires before our next trip!

Moto4play,
Any details on this recall? I would surely like to get this fixed if it is on all Voltages. Mine is a 2014 V3605. Thanks in advance
