DesertRat.....Really, I have not noticed that.

To xhogboss. Looking at the photo of your wheels with the rubber valve stem. You have 85 psi wheels.

If you crawl under your trailer and inspect the inside of the spokes the max pressure per wheel should be marked there.

Also to xhogboss. If you have a double axle trailer and are worried about your tires. Listen to DeserRat, spend the $$$ and get a 17.5 wheel and tire combo. If you have triple axle you could go with Goodyear G614,s. Or better yet spend a bit more and go with the 17.5" combo.

Well, I haven't had the tire problems you have had. But I have suggested changing over to the 17.5" wheel and tire combo. I think even before you joined the forum. Some listen some don't.

Thanks, Guys.
You're both right. Better to bite the bullet and go with the 17.5 wheel/tire combo. Like the Fram filter guy says- pay me now or you'll pay me later.

Good choice. I wish this advice had been on this forum when I bought my Good Year G614's.

They are still a decent Made in USA tire on a triple axle trailer so I will not fret about them. To much.

He's having the same problem I did. Late last summer on maiden voyage, I had a tire go down 2 days after I got set up. I removed it and took it to a tire shop and it had a bolt in it. I looked all over the inside of the wheel with it off the camper. The psi rating is not on my wheels. All the numbers he described are there but not the psi rating.

Replacing Tires

See the attached chart from Goodyear for future reference.
I was also informed that there are rubber coated steel valve stems. I would iimagine that they are pretty hard to spot them without actually feeling them.

We opted not to go with the 17 1/2 inch. We may regret it but we went with the Sailun S637. They are heavy duty and, even though they are a trailer tire, they are stamped LT on the side. Rated at 110 psi. They are getting outstanding reviews, so I hope we don't regret it.

What Hankooks did you purchase?

It sounds like you have had experience with the company...how many miles do you have on your set now? thoughts?
I will be doing mostly 150 mile to 300 mile trips one way as many weekends as i can, with a few longer ones in the 550 mile one way range. Most all will be highway and then some dirt/gravel getting into the mountains in Montana.
Thanks for your advise.

Tires have made two trips to South Dakota & back. Once on my Teton & once on my Voltage. With weekend trips total I would say is over 10,000 miles. I've had Hankooks on my 06 F-350, my 13 VW Passat & we also have them on our F150 & F250 at work. Never had a problem with Hankook tires. Hard to beat the price that ebay has them for plus free shipping.

No problem. Honestly i haven't been down to it, we mostly camp in the mountains. What time of year will you be staying? It's on the Yellowstone river so i would think it would be decent. If it were me and i was looking for a beautiful place to stay i would stop 1.5hrs earlier and stay around Bozeman, or swing up to Red lodge (out of the way). Billings definitely is the dividing line where you are into the flat eastern part of montana.
It is still obviously pretty near the river and the rims are interesting, but there are other places close that are more beautiful...

Not sure why you wouldn't just go out the east entrance from Yellowstone to Cody. On my honeymoon we came into Yellowstone that way from Rapid City.

I am not expert on Yellow Stone NP. I have only been there 3 times. It seems to me that the road is in a constant state or repair. The traffic is about what you might expect. I have seen worse, traffic wise.

We stayed in Yellowstone last summer for a few days on our way home from CDA. Traffic wasn't bad at all, but i think we avoided the weekend...
We had a 30 ft Jayco TT so it was only about 3 inches shorter than my new 3605. I didn't have any issues...just made sure to reserve a long spot in advance.
Parked and then toured around in the truck for 2 days. Good time.
We went out through Cooke City (NE entrance) and then turned off and took the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, to avoid the Beartooth hwy switch backs. All went smoothly.

Aligning Axles

Now that I've been convinced to go with the 17.5 wheels, where's the best place to get my axles aligned? I'm showing excess wear on the outside shoulders of the left rear and the right front.

No sense getting new tires and eating them up before their time.
