Great news. But I have some new that differs. The weight rating is higher.

On the back of the spokes it says this.

Made in China on one spoke, 3960 LBS MAX on the next, 110 P.S.I. DOT-T, 16X6J on the next, Made in China on the next, and then it must repeat but I could not see any farther around without pulling the wheel. If you crawl under your trailer you can see it for yourself. Take a flashlight.

So when are you getting your tires.

I crawled under there and sure enough stamped 3960 lbs 110 psi. I went and bought the G614's. For those interested 4 tires $1567.00 tires only. Still waiting on the frame brackets for my truck. Now they say it will be around the 10th of March before they come in.

2014 Dodge ram changed the frame, suspension upping the game thus Reese wasn't aware of the change and don't have the frame brackets, that puts the brakes on. I was ready to go...

So I am going this Friday to have 4 Maxxis tires installed on my 3200. $895 installed at Discount Tire.

They want an additioanl 30 bucks per tire for the insurance. I haven't had to replace tires on a vehicle in a while and I've never done it on a trailer. Thoughts on the hazard insurance?

Okay gang. I've listened to all the tire threads for the past few months. Up until today I've put about 15,000 miles on my China Bombs. I just completed a trip from North Mississippi to McAllen, Texas. I have sweated the whole trip wondering when my tires were going to blow. Today I had to bite a very large bullet and put 6 Goodyear G614 RST tires on my Voltage. I've heard everything everybody said about all the other brands and it seemed like the G614's were the only ones that really made sense to me considering my large heavy load. My Gross weight yesterday evening at the CAT scales was 31,460 lbs. When the Discount Tire folks showed me two of my China bombs with knots on the side I was very glad I got the new tires. This is a picture of one of the tires they took off my Voltage.

Crap, that is scary looking. Glad you changed them before they blew.

Maybe so, but looks like you also dodged a very large bullet.

How much water did you have onboard at the time?

About 1/2 tank of water and the holding tanks were almost empty. We stopped at Wal-Mart in Wharton, Texas last night so we needed some water for cooking etc. My garage is way too full of audio/video equipment.

Steve, thanks for sharing... looks like someone was watching out for ya! Amen! You'll like the way the G614 roll I've only drove it around locally a couple of times but you can see the difference especially when turning. The china bombs looked like they were going to pop. Good luck.

I am SO GLAD to hear that. I cringe every time I have to make sharp turns when I look back at those poor tires. They looked like they would come off the rim.

I got my Maxxis tires installed yesterday afternoon.

I feel so much better about the switch. All the horror stories of blown tires and the damage it creates justified replacing them even though there was plenty of tread and no visible issues with the china bombs that came off.

I'm afraid I would have had to have a heart to heart talk with the General Manager. I'm sure they have done that to my trailer but I was not there to see it. I don't take my trailer to them any more unless there's no other choice. I try to fix my own stuff since they displeased me last time I was there. I've not had good results with any trip to them.

Picking up my new V3605 on Saturday. One of the first things I'm going to do is take the 17.5" off my Teton & switch them over to the Voltage. I blew 8 or 9 tires on my Teton in the ten years I have had it. Once I switched over to 17.5 tire problem was solved. If you put miles on your rig don't waste time with any 16" tires like I did. Bite the bullet $ wise & switch to 17.5.

Good call on the 17.5's. I wish I had been aware of them when I went and replaced my tires with the G614's.

I had stated this several times to members wanting to upgrade their tires, but alas. Seems like everyone went with the G614's or Michelin Ribs.

Here is the site I used to buy the rims. LT215/75r-17.5 is the perfect tire size to replace the 16 that come on the trailer.
17.5 in Trailer Rims Aluminum and Steel, Custom and OEM Trailer Wheels. Free Shipping over $75.

Do 17.5" rims fit without modifications to the axles?
