Hey guys, new to the forum here and new owner of a fifth wheel. I just bought a used 2021 Dutchmen Astoria 3553mbp and had a question about the dump valves on it. So the specs for the trailer say there is one 78 gallon grey tank and one 39 gallon black tank. In the wet bay there is a pull handle for the black tank and one for the grey tank as well but underneath the trailer there’s another pull handle for the grey tank. Is there actually 2 grey tanks? One for the kitchen and one for the bathroom? The one underneath is under the kitchen Just confused due to the spec’s saying there’s just one grey tank. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Not uncommon for tank specs to be out of date or flat incorrect. But could that 2d pull handle be a fresh water tank dump? Just a thought, I have 1 black, 1 grey and 2 fresh water tank dumps. More than a few 5ers have multiple grey tanks, or combine grey and black in a a bathroom, etc. 78 gals is a lot of grey water, nice at times but very likely the total of two tanks.
Sounds like the same set up as my Voltage. Two grey tanks and one black. In my Voltage the grey valve at the back is for the kitchen sink and the washer/dyer drain. Both of these drains are the most rearward. The other, or front grey is for the bathroom which includes both the sink and shower.
I have heard that tanks larger than about 50 gallons don’t exist or are very rare and when capacity exceeds that amount that manufacturers tie tanks together with a connection between them to help level the tank contents. This is the case with my fresh water which is supposedly around 100 gallons as claimed by Dutchmen, although it is actually two smaller tanks that are interconnected. (And I know this because both tanks were crushed during installation and developed leaks several years later where the brackets crushed and creased them!)
