Voltage 3805 Ladder Storage

As with most, I hate having items on the floor of the garage, especially the bunk ladders. Here are a few pics of how I mounted the 2 ladders on the side wall under the window. Easy solution and does not interfere with anything.

btw - We LOVE our 3805 !!

Just a note for anyone else that's thinking of doing this:

If your TV is like mine, make sure your mount is no thicker than 3"!

I woke up early this morning, and decided to head outside and do this mod. I had a spare mount from a larger TV sitting around, so I went about the take of installing it.

No issues there... everything went fine. But when I went to shut the exterior door, it wouldn't close. The TV was sticking out too far.

The depth of the exterior TV space is 6" total, from the back of the wall to the inside lip of the doorframe. The Samsung TV is 3¼" thick. I had used no spacers, so that wasn't the issue... the mount itself was just too thick. 3½" to be precise.

So I began looking for alternatives. I saw the model 1BadDiesel used, but it wasn't locally available. However, Wal-Mart stocked one that was pretty close too it: the SANUS VuePoint F107d. It has a thickness of 2.8".

So I went down there, picked it up ($44.95), and figured I'd give it a try.

Drilled new holes, hung it all up... and Wha-Lah! The door closed as advertised!

With the right mount, the whole thing should take no more than a half-hour. The other big thing to remember though is... because of the arm design, the main mount will probably need to be offset about 3" from where the original mount was. Otherwise, in the folded position, the TV will set too far left or right to fit in the cavity.

Got some goodies in the mail. I don't use the arrows, I look at the horizontal jaws but the verdict is in. The precise placement of the stickers from the factory. If you were to go by them here it would allow for three different settings. HahahaClick image for larger version

Added a switch to turn the external remote on/off and expanded the bottom of the pantry in the process. They sure wasted a lot of space in there. Now we can expand the bar!

I took a simple on/off switch. Mine had four wires to the remote. I disconnected the red and orange wires (they were together) and put them on one side of the switch and power wire to the other side. Some have ran the blue (signal) wire from the remote to the blue wire on the head unit but I didn't feel like finding more fiascos from our friends at Dutchman to fix today.

Can't tell from the picture but how much space were you able to add to the shoe box they call a pantry?

On the right as looking in, none due the heat duct coming up thru the floor. On the left, without going out to measure, about a half gallon bottle of bourbon! Seriously, 6 or 8"...

Got this whole setup for a whopping $12.95 + tax at Menards... It is not fluid filled but if they put these gauges on a compressor that is vibrating violently when running, I think it'll be ok on the kingpin of the 5'er... If not, for the $4.98 i'll go buy another one.

What is the need to turn the remote off? I thought it was off when the radio was off.

Parasitic drain as the wonderful Dutchmen installers did not connect the blue signal wire to the stereo on mine. That may be a winter project.

Nearly have the "entertainment center" in the Voltage completely set up.

This week's project was finishing up the bedroom set up.

Original Haier TV was a piece of junk. Nothing but dark shadows. Dealer said it was OK. So I took it out and replaced it with a little larger Visio TV.

Real PITA that to get the Haier out, had to take the bottom of the Dutchmen "cabinet" off. So while off, I mounted a DirecTV mini-Genie power supply on the back. Used the visible "100mph" aluminum tape to hold things in place. What you see is after I took the Visio TV out to get the new set up wiring in place.

Traded a couple hours of dirt work with the Bobcat to our Kitchen cabinet contractor for the nice shelf that will hold the mini-Genie, the Sony Blu-ray player and an HDMI switch. Mounted as far to the side as possible to provide access to the side of the bed. Here are two views

Works just great!! No more hanging the mini-Genie on a screw in the wall and the Blu-ray player propped against the wall on the floor!!

Two more tasks to do. Get the mini-Genie power supply mounted behind the outside TV and get the Sony sound bar bluetoothed to the Kenwood stereo in the garage.

I'll get there...just not sure when!!!

Nice! When you get bored after you're done, Pirate, I come out your way and you can start over on mine. I suspect that when you are done, you'll just start over! Looks great.

Well...I'm trying to get things done in the TH so we can enjoy it....

Got the outside TV connected up so we can have DirecTV out there if we want.

Spent an hour trying to get the Kenwood stereo and the Sony sound bar to Bluetooth together...Nada...fortunately I've found that Kenwood has a very responsive, very knowledgeable Tech Staff...so I should have that done tomorrow morning.

Then there's the new "basement" behind the rear steps to store my ramps an step ladders we carry along. Hate having to figure out where to stash them when we have the RZR in the garage!!

Oh, then want to pull the fuel filler nozzles out and get rid of the little hole and flapper...gonna be like the old days...a big open hole for filling!!!

Then got some LED tail/brake bulbs for the RZR from SuperBrightLEDs.com I think I can get replacement LED bulbs for all the fixtures in the Voltage...so don't have to replace all the light fixtures!!

Then wanna figure out how to run some 12V to some sort of outlet so we can have LED nightlights for moving around at night.

Never ends...for me anyway!!!

Always glad to share...want the drawings for the little shelf...just say so and I'll send 'em pdf style.

Pirate...

Don't wanna hijack the thread, but am interested in your Direct TV setup.

Now that I'm fulltime in my RV, I've been thinking of getting an antenna installed on my rig (the Trav'ler by Winegard)... but have no idea of what I need for receivers. I've got 4 TVs in the rig, and would like them all to be able to receive the signal... HD service all around.

By what I can tell, I need a Genie receiver, and 3 of the mini-Genies... but again, not sure. I've never had statellite service before.

So again, not to hijack this thread, but if you get time... could you send me the details of your setup in a private message... or maybe even just start a new thread on that?

Thanks...
