Awning Repair

I just bought a new to me 2003 Aerolite Cub Hybrid C195 camper. The awning I see has started to separate on the inside layer that's exposed to weather and sunlite. It shows as cracked and pealing. I've seen that there is awning tape (15 foot x 5 inch wide) that's available for repairs. I haven't taken the awning off yet to determine the extent of damage. Has anyone else used this awning tape for repairs and would you recommend it or would it be best just to replace the entire awning..?

I suggest replacing. The repair tape would be better for a tear in the awning but I think you might be chasing that problem for a while.

My two cents anyway.

I was thinking the same thing. For the price of the repair tape and the price of replacing the entire material, it's not all that much cheaper..

Thanks for your reply....

I just got a quote for replacing the entire awning (material only) for $100 CDN for the material and $250 CDN for the install. Best to get it done right then have to mess around with what I got..

That sounds pretty good to me.

I have changed my awning fabric twice and it is really very easy. It is not the Space Shuttle. There are plenty of videos on YouTube. It did help that I owned a garage door business for a few decades and awning and garage door springs work and are serviced in the exact same manner.

I would have looked at doing it myself but I'd want a good helper along side me when doing it to make the job go smoother. I think for the quoted price, it's not all that expensive to avoid any issues that may come up..
