Doesn't look like you are getting any takers on this thread. I am wondering what there is to "test" though? AISIN trannies have been around a long time and last I heard they were the largest auto trannie maker in the world. Toyota owns over half the company. My son owns a '92 Toyota pickup that has over 200K miles on it and the trannie (manual) has never been touched and still goes strong. I had a Toyota Tacoma with the 6-spd AISIN auto and it was a really smooth shifting trannie. It was a sealed trannie that only required servicing every 60K miles.
I don't have a Dodge truck but AISIN has a reputation of making pretty bullet-proof trannies.

Good to hear, and the reason i posted it is 2013 is the first year RAM put the AISIN in a truck smaller that a 4500 and it in combination with the high output CIMMINS it is producing a HUGE 850 ft lbs of torque... Probably not exactly what was in the old Toyota.

Halibuthays...Oops...we have a 2012 with this tranny 68RFE 6 sp AUTO (DG7) ..I think around the same amount of torque as your 2013..I love the engine brake.
Take care

The Aisin was first put in the 4500 and larger 2007 with the Cummins 6.7l. Granted it was only putting out 650 ft pds of torque.
I suspect that they offered the Aisin in the 3500 due to customer demand vs the 68 rfe not
being stout enough.
My 07 3500 has a "bit" more than stock torque and the 68 rfe handles everything that I throw at it.
The 68rfe was designed and built specifically for the 6.7l.
Regular PM and keeping a close watch on the trans temperature when towing makes for a happy transmission.

Good info, this is my first pickup bigger than a 1/2 ton so I appreciate all of the knowledge I can get.

As soon as I see the transmission temp getting over 175, I start to back it down, if it starts heading towards 200, I pull over and let it cool down.
I don't have to get anywhere that quick that I can't keep the temperatures down.
I also keep a close watch on the EGT too. It generally runs around a max of 1100-1150, if it starts creeping above 1250 I back it down.

Your welcome.
Those are just the temps that fit my comfort zone, and I like to manage them vs leaving it the the ECM to do stuff that I can't see happening, like defuelling
An other thing that I monitor is when the torque converter and transmission go into lockup mode. This tells me that the trans temps a rising due to the load and not slippage.

FlyingDutchmen...thanks bud...been off line for a bit ....too much camping and driving our new truck ...what a towing machine. Went down the the steep side of Coquihalla Summit (el. 1,244 m or 4,081 ft) with the engine brake on...kept at constant 100 k all the way down..solo no trailer. Can hardly wait till we do the summit with the trailer in tow. Just sprung for winter tires for the beast.....the ones with the snow flake...another 💲grand +
Now we just have to pay for it. 💲
