12 volt side of life

A/C, Microwave, 120 volt outlets, electric water heater, battery charger are 120 volt AC appliances. They only work with shore power. (Unless you have a big inverter and large battery bank)

Lights, furnace, propane refrigerator, propane water heater are 12 volt DC appliances. They work from the battery.

Battery dead
Main shut off switch at battery turned "off"
Battery connection loose or corroded
Battery ground to frame loose or corroded
Circuit breaker near battery defective

Disconnect shore power
Wait 15 minutes
Measure voltage on battery terminals. You should see more than 12 volts. Maybe 12.7 volts.
Measure voltage from local circuit breaker of fuse to frame. Voltage should be the same as found on the battery terminals.
Continue tracing presence of voltage back to fuse distribution panel.

Some of the information is a little dated, but it is still pretty good.

My trailer has three breakers on the frame near the battery, the cheap rubber covers are all gone and the connectors are corroded.. I would start at the source and work inward.. being aware batteries carry alot of current and can make a nice spark.

A systematic approach usually a good plan.

Measure voltages as you go to gain insight as to what is causing the problem.

Corroded connections show lower voltage under load. Turn some 12 volt appliances "on" when you measure.
