Generator transfer switch

I have an issue that concerns my genset transfer switch. I was using the genset a Onan QG 5500 EVAP that runs my 2012 Voltage 3950 coach. The geneset ran for 1.5 hours on a trip home. Upon shutting down the genset and connecting to a 50 amp circuit, no AC power. Dealer said probably transfer switch bad and needs replacement. Where is the transfer switch located and is this a difficult replacement?

Re: Generator transfer switch

I had to replace a transfer switch on a former 5th-wheel I owned. It blew because the connections in it were never properly tightened during installation. This switch is usually mounted somewhere in the vicinity of the converter where electrical components are centered. It is about 8 inches in each dimension and all the major electrical feeds go through it. If I remember correctly, it cost me about $400 to replace with parts and labor.
