water pump

I have a 35' 2003 classic toy hauler. My water pump has died and I am about to replace it.

I was wondering if a 5. GPM would be too much for the system. Kitchen sink, bathroom with shower and outside shower.

Thanks,
Bill

I have a flowmax pump. 3.3 gpm. In my opinion, any GOOD pump will do but I look for several things:

Self priming
Ok to run dry
50 psi - ish
Runs QUIET.

I also added an external filter with a removable bowl for debris. You may want to take the extra steps to noise proof your pump while you are replacing it.. also, not sure how well an accumulator works but you may do some research on it to see if it would be worthwhile for your application.

Thanks

I will follow-up on your suggestions.

Sound proofing was one of my issues. On my Avion I can not hear the pump because of where it is. This one is under the sink. I am thinking of putting one of those Styrofoam coolers over it with a few holes for vents.

Thanks again,
Bill

They are pretty easy to silence, rubber hoses for the first few inches of hose and a rubber mat underneath the pump.

I guess I'm a little different.....
I want hear the running or not. Without the noise, how would I know I have a leak with a sealed underbody?
The last time the pump ran more than normal, I managed to shut it off before I saw water under the dinette! The filter top had cracked and was pumping water onto the floor.

So give me a little noise!!
I now carry a spare filter...and I epoxied the old cap just in case...

aquajet

I used this pump. Pricey, but works great and you can quiet it down with an accumulator and coil the output hose like a slinky with 3 wraps or so of the hose and keep it from contacting any walls or other plumbing. There are a few threads about this on here and it makes a big difference. It can still be heard, but with less noise.

Might want to consider one of these as well.

some of them come with hoses to help install it.

Donuts made of the smaller diameter pool noodles work nice to silence vibration for water pipes.
