norcold n621

I have a Norcold N621 Fridge, which is working well on 110 and propane, however it is not working on 12volt.
Has anyone experienced an issue like this?
Thank you in advance for insight and help.

If it is working on propane that is 12V. The propane gas valve and ignitor require 12v in order to function

The problem is when I drive the fridge is off, I think it should continue to work on 12V.

12v. But if it is working on propane, it would appear the 12v circuit is fine as it can't run on propane without 12v present

from this article it appears that it will only work on AC and LP , so it is useless .
by the time you get to your destination the food is spoild unless you drive with the gas on - a ticking bomb

@OP, it is legal to drive with propane on as long as you turn it off for tunnels and gas stations (at least where I have checked) Not sure how everyone feels about it but with a regulator and the safety stuff built into the fridge I do it. I used to turn it off all the time but my fridge would never catch up again once it was full and warming up. I figure the propane in the canister is probably the greatest risk. The fact that it is open or closed—not sure how much more dangerous it makes it.

Also, @OP I can’t speak to your Norcold model but most RV fridges use propane when in DC mode and require AC to be fully electric without propane.

Are you sure your model is pure DC when not on AC?

My Norcold 8 cu. ft. refrigerator in my Aerolite is a two way refrigerator and runs only on propane and AC. I have driven with the propane powering the refrigerator all over the country with two TTs. Not a problem. They have protection devices to shut off the propane if needed. I turn it off as we enter gas stations and turn it on after we have pulled away from the pump. When I arrive at the campsite, I switch over to shore power AC. I don't miss the 12 volt with my current Norcold and tried it only once with my previous Dometic. I found the performance on propane far exceeded the performance on 12 volt. There are risks with having propane on while driving, yes. But if you stay on top of things, make sure all is operating correctly, periodically check on it, and use common sense like turning it off in gas stations, the advice I have received is that it is safe.

Manual

The Norcold N621 uses 12 volts for controls only. It will not cool with 12 volts only. See operator's manual below.

Thanks for the link to the manual. That is exactly the manual I have for my refrigerator. Nice when things line up logically.

Thanks again.
