This is the real tile. Used Pencil edging for the boarder. They do sell a metal half round that would have bordered it nicely. I did not see it until after i did my project. The metal comes in an 8' stick and you could picture frame it.

I am a big fan of ceramic tile and have installed TONS over the years. Let me know how it holds up in the TH. I like the look of this MUCH better than the smart tile. Did you use the peel and stick adhesive as opposed to backer board and mortar?

New battery box
Finally got around to building the new battery box. Couldn't find any premade that fit my needs or the space. First two pics are the temporary stacked boxes I build in a hurry to get me thru race season last year. We dry camp at NASCAR so we need the extra battery capacity.
First pic is sideways for some reason in the post but not on my tablet.

Battery cable posts that pass thru and the lid overhangs them to protect from coming into contact with them. Third picture is rotated counterclockwise.

First pick shows lid on. Lots more useful storage one I make the plexiglass cover for the bussbar and the remote receiver panel. Second pic is the lower battery box vent - a pvc cap with plenty of small holes to keep critters and insects out. Third shows the upper vent connected to the factory vent hose. Now I can check water levels easily, have more storage and still have access to everything inside the compartment.

This is really a great idea. I hardly do any dry camping, but I am adding a 2nd battery this spring and may follow your idea here. Did you bolt the box down or is it 'floating' in place?

I think it would have OK floating due to the weight but with the lower vent, the side terminals and the crap Michigan roads, I used 4 stainless self tapping screws. If you were close enough I'd give you a box already vented and build to hold two batteries...

I know this quote is almost a year old....but it's a good one. How did you attach the bungee to the side of the vinyl? I am afraid if I attach with screws they will rip the hose

I actually used a thin set directly on the paneling. We just got back from a 600 mile round trip and no issues. Was expecting some cracking around the edges, but nothing.

Trail aire mod

Simple mod with a huge payoff in ride quality.

I have this same hitch. I don't have too much complaint on normal driving but large bumps really hammer us in the truck. Does this setup remove that huge secondary bounce over large bumps? I've considered adding shocks to the trailer and wondering if new truck shocks would help. This looks like it might be the answer I need.

I added this mod after I bought the RV, no experience before hand. I believe there is a fine line in balancing the rig. Having enough weight on the axel of the truck with the RV riding level and the nose not up in the air is what really keeps it from bucking or experiencing the major jolts. I still get them if I do not have the right combination in the air bag of the hitch and the air bags of the truck.
If you have not toyed with these adjustable items, I would wait to see if that will improve it first. I don't see a harm in adding the two shocks but it's hard to say that is the only thing preventing the jolts.
Learning the balance point has GREATLY improved our riding experience. Especially through stretches of I-85 in NC!

Phil - exactly why I installed a gage on my hitch bag so I can find and maintain the various "sweet spots" based on what I have loaded in the garage. I also love my remote controlled truck airbags - can adjust height while rolling if needed. Even left and right individually if needed. Makes a big difference being able to adjust these.

Yea, I agree. I have a the ability to adjust my air bags while driving. I will probably add a gauge on the hitch, this would be easier to track and see.

Phil - a suggestion if you do - use a liquid filled gage. It will hold up to vibrations and and any freezing weather won't effect it's operation. I also got ahold of some airbag antifreeze from a truckstop for my truck bags and added a bit to the hitch bag as well.

I would like to say I would't need the anti-freeze, but with the winters we have had recently, that might be a great idea. Thanks for the advice on the gauge, I will look back to see how you plumbed yours.
It's great having this site and learning things like this before we waste our money and time on things that fail!

I removed the stock valve stem, installed a close nipple, and a tee. Gage on top, valve stem on front. Use the better brass as opposed to the "red" brass. The finish holds up much better!
