Load Management System shedding loads
Over the weekend, went to fire AC up Saturday evening. Everything was fine running on generator earlier in the day. Started generator, LMS came up. As soon as one AC unit compressor would kick in the LMS would shed ALL loads. Tried again with a different AC, same thing. Next morning - started generator up, turned on Hot Water Heater - shed all loads. Tried again with an AC unit, shed all loads. A couple of hours later, I fired the generator up, turned on #3 AC, all was well. Thinking it has something with one of the other 2 AC units, I turned on #1 AC - all was well for a few hours before we tore down to leave...puzzled....

Question: were you also using the microwave or any other high-draw items at the same time?
I'm no electrical expert... just thinking out loud that something else could've been on that was causing the shed.

Nothing else was on exepct for the rear refridgerator and the main refridgerator - what is the most puzzling is that it has never happened before running this stuff and more (ice make, TV, satellite receiver, etc) and the fact that it shed ALL four possible high draw loads each time. The lights would go out on by one from top to bottom.

Don,
Well I'm no expert on LMS...not even sure what that system is on a Voltage.
But did the generator die when you had the LMS shed all the load?
And if it did, how hot was it where you were parked?
I had problems with the generator unwilling to run for more than 10 minutes, but it was 103 degrees out.
Solution was to put another electric fuel pump right back at the tank. To push fuel to the front pump. End of problem.
Oh, did you get a generator problem code? Ours was 3-1...nothing from controller to shut down. That's how I figured out it was a fuel problem.
Just thoughts,
Pirate

No errors and generator didn't die. It wasn't that hot either

I think it just could be the Voltage Gremlin.
I have one. Each time I use the front A/C in mine after sitting for a couple of months it trips it's breaker. Once reset never happens again. Happened last year at the start of vacation trip & did it again this year.

Don,
Hope all is well, hoping to finish the last leg of our trip later this week...
Sorry to hear about the LMS acting up...have you moved recently (like a road trip)? I have developed a gremlin in my power panel at the front door...if I push on the fuses, I have some items that will work intermittently. The company that produces the LMS has a good install book, for the first two AC units, they use current sensing donuts to tell the current running through the lines.
Another question...once you are set up at a power site, use the 30 amp dongle to see if the results are the same as with the generator, I would almost guess there is a problem with the transfer switch??? I only suggest that because working backwards through the power system, the transfer switch is in common down stream...
I am in place for a couple of days, so I can do some looking into it myself.
Cale

Interesting thought on transfer switch. I'll investigate. The thing that makes me think otherwise is that only happened when the heavy load was applied. The AC blower ran fine, but when the compressor kicked in or when electric water heater switch was thrown.

Before diving to deep into it, if you have not had it in for a "tune up" in a while I'd buy a new spark plug and install it.
I had a similar issue with my Honda EU3000 last year. A new spark plug took care of it. Just a guess but a cheap guess..........

When a plug is going out it will run fine sometimes and then cut out (the load) suddenly especially the longer you run the generator and the more load it has. Just guessing and trying to pass on my experience. Go for the $100+ part replacement though...................

The company is Precision Circuits Inc
Web site: http://www.precisioncircuitsinc.com
I looked for my email exchange with them, may have to look on my computer though... If you send them an email, they will forward you the wiring diagram for the system. They are quite friendly people. They are also the ones that helped me identify the E7 error code on my garage AC unit....since their product was the one causing it....only because it intentionally/physically disconnects 120v from the unit without throwing a breaker.

Thanks, Cale. Sent them a detailed email asking for their advice and for a wiring diagram as their site doesn't appear to have our panel show I on it. In the mean time, I'm gonna start up a new thread on the transfer switch as ai am curious and only two days away from boondocking weekend at the nascar track...

I am jealous! I have heard great things about MIS...I may be in TN for the Bristol race, but will stay with my dad, he lives in Kingsport...
The panels are customer specific, so they do have the diagram...which is nice. I am kicking myself, I know I have it, but do not know why I did not post it on the forum...

Cale - MIS is awesome for the fall race. The trucks really put on a great show. The Cup race is normally quite boring but very FAST. Bristol is definitely on my bucket list. We head to Darlington for the Labor Day race... Thanks for pointing me to Precision Circuitry. Waiting their response.
