Larry, I don't believe this is normal. Mine started making a noise last winter. I'm contacting manufacturer tomorrow. I will likely replace it under my extended warranty.

Mine did the same thing. I believe there is a motor that spins behind the fireplace to give the flame effect. Mine was rubbing. The entire fireplace was replaced under warranty. So far, a year latter, its still working.

Ours works very well...two years in.

Wife uses it to heat the living area in the mornings when it is cool. Thus we use some RV park electricity and no propane.

She even sets it for a 9 hour time period and it shuts off with thermostat and keeps things warm.

Mine does it too, I just turn the flame off. Not worth the effort to repair since my warrantee has expired.

It dropped all the way down into the 60s last night and I used my fireplace for the first time this year. I noticed the squeak mentioned and searched the forum...

Has anyone tried to lubricate / adjust this motor???

I do not want to pursue an extended warranty claim, if that's the case I'll also just turn the flame off.
