New Guy On Deck

9 days out from taking delivery on a new Astoria 2703RB.

In the process, I've discovered two state secrets that Dutchmen nor any of its dealers will disclose: 1, how wide the trailer is with the slide retracted; and 2, how wide the trailer is with the slide extended. Now I'm not even brave enough to ask the distance from the rear axle to the rear bumper.

I suppose I'll have to dress in black, sneak on the lot at 2:00 a.m., slink back to the trailer, whip out my (subdued) tape measure, hastily note the statistics, and try to get away before the guard dogs alert.

They will not tell you either number because that would require some consistency on their part. [emoji3]

I hadn't considered that, but of course, that makes sense!

Safe bet the width with slides in is just shy of 8’6” as that is the maximum legal width. This would be based on the frame which is likely made by Lippert. Slide out width will vary based on your slides. My sofa slide is probably at least 3 and a half feet deep-might even be 4 feet. Wardrobe closer to 18 inches and kitchen in the middle.

Since new trailer, do a complete walk though and make sure everything works. Also check the fit and finish and require everything is fix before accepting delivery. There are check lists available on the web for this.

Only wide body trailers (usually Toy Haulers) are 8"6" (102"). Typically most TT's I've seen are 8' (96") and some are narrower at 7.5' (90")

Don't forget the awning it sticks out about 3 inches.
