Hooking Up fifth wheel Night before??

What is the max time you have left your fifth wheel hooked up to your truck? If hooked up do you put the front jacks down? Considering to hook up the night before we leave for convenience since we are planning to leave early in the morning.

If you have Schwintek slides be sure you are level before operating slides is the only advice I can give

Yes, I’ve remained hooked up many times when only staying 1 night somewhere during my travels… and also hitched the night before in anticipation of an early start the next morning.

I do usually lower the landing gear jacks, lifting the front just barely enough to remove the weight from the fifth wheel. This stabilizes the rig while I’m moving around inside.

I do have the Schwintek slides, and extending the smaller bedroom slide is not a problem. But I rarely extend the larger main slide when I’m hitched. I won’t say that I haven’t, but as donzinger says above, the rig is rarely level when I’m hitched.

3 days. Sometimes lower the front jacks to help the truck. Never a problem (so far!).
