Voltage Triton Garage Insulation

Hi all,

This is my first time posting here and I was hoping to get some feedback on the garage insulation for a Voltage Triton RV. We live in Texas and will obviously want 3 ACs for the unit if we were to purchase it, but in looking at the brochures for this brand of toy hauler, it's not clear to me as to how well insulated the garage is. The garage will be used as a bedroom for our kids while we are camping. I'm worried that it may get too hot back there even with the third AC.

Can anyone let me know of their experience with heating or cooling the garage of a Voltage Triton?

Thanks!

I had my 2012 3800 garage floor open to repair a soft spot. Under the rubber mat is the OSB/chip board almost wood stuff. Under there is a fabric similar to what would be seen in a garden for sun protection and under there is the under belly.
If any sort of insulation there is MAY be the silver bubble type of reflective material found in the ceiling some times.

The word insulation is is thrown about as often as high end, custom or many other fancy words to sell RVs.

Ask the dealer to pull one of the D rings and take a look in the hole.

Not much to add to Sundancer’s post above, except to say right now as I type this, the hourly observation here in Douglas, WY is sunny & 96 degrees, and the temp in my garage (with the 3rd AC running is a comfortable 74 with the upper bunk in the lowered position.

(The caveat to that is very low humidity up here, compared to what you probably have down there in Texas)

That upper bunk position is critical, as… if left up high, then the cool air from the unit gets “trapped”, and doesn’t cool the room.

I made a “manifold” from a plastic box and added to flexible dryer vent tubes to let the air bypass the upper bunk in the up position. Works quite well. It is in the show off your mods thread (somewhere- lol)

Rear inside ramp door gets very Warm if sun is on It
I usually hang an 8x12 flag on it with I command strips
When camping That helps a lot or from the inside I
Put a fan pointing at it to move the air. I don’t think ramp
Is insulated at all. If your salesman says it is ask for
Door construction pics.
All our best fla

That’s very helpful information from all of you. Thanks a bunch!

We’re looking very seriously at the 4271 - we love the floor plan! The biggest concerns are the cooling in the bunk room and the garage. We’ve looked at Grand Design, too, and like the construction very well but are not as happy with the floor plans or the price point.

ATCGuy - is 74* your target temp, or just the best it could do for the conditions? BTW - do you fly too? (The private pilot in me couldn’t resist asking).

Yes, that’s where I have the thermostat set for Zone 3 (garage)… which I set up & use as a home office once I unload my motorcycle.

As for flying… no, I’m a retired controller. 30+ years between my early Marine Corps days, and the FAA… finishing up my final 16 years at New York Approach.

The zip ties you can see in the first pic. I used them to lace thru the vents in the AC unit and secured it that way. Been there for several years and thousands of miles
