17.5" Wheels and Tires do fit. The 17.5" tire has less sidewall than the 16" tire.

Good to know. I'll take that into consideration next time tires are up for replacement.

Start saving your $$ need to buy rims also. I got my rims for $227.65 each with free shipping. Same place will sell tires & mount free. Goodyears will run $474 & Geostars run $215. I bought 4 used take offs Michelins for $900 from ebay.

Not to add more stress on you, but you'll find that those Maxxis E rated tires don't have enough capacity to even support the max axle weight. V3200's have 7000 lb axles, meaning you need tires with AT LEAST (dot recommends an additional 10%) 3500 lb rating. Most E rated tires are around 3400 lbs. The Maxxis is rated at 3420 I believe. If you haven't actually weighed your 3200 you will be surprised at how heavy it is. Mine, with the water and fuel tanks full and only one ATV weighed nearly 6900 lbs on both axles. Yes, that was hooked up to the truck at the time. You really need at least F or G rated tires for these pigs!

This is an "I'm just curious question"

For those that have had blow outs, which axle was it that the tire blew, front or rear axle? Or middle if you have a triple axle.

I lost 8-9 tires on my 2 axle Teton. Twice I lost two within 10 miles of each other. Was never over weight or low pressure. Mine lost more on the left side but that's were my kitchen is. Front & rear didn't make a difference. Once I switched to 17.5 problem has gone away.

Hey, DesertRat!

What tires do you have on your 17.5 wheels? Just reading through the forum, so hope I didn't ask something you already answered.

I bought 4 used take offs Michelins for $900 from ebay. One was weather cracked more then I liked so used it as the spare. Bought a new Hankook as the replacement. Have had very good luck with Hankook tires or our work trucks & on my 06 F-350 when I owned it.
These are the rims I bought http://www.trailer-wheels.com/175x67...l#.Uz3UUfldXTo

Good information here.

I had it all figured out until I checked. Teton has 9/16" studs Voltage has 1/2" studs.
So next thing I'll check is can the drums be switched between them. Both are rated for 7,000 lbs but by just looking the Teton drums look larger. Wouldn't know for sure until I take them off.
I'm not giving up just quite yet.

When you ordered your 17.5 rims, did they ask for any information regarding stud size or bolt pattern?
I am watching what you are doing as I will be changing at the very least, the tires. Depending on what you report, I might change to 17.5 at the same time.

The last thing I want to have problems with is tires on my way to San Diego from Maryland next month.

I just checked the site where I got the rims. They will work for 9/16" & 1/2" studs. Guess I'm back to swapping out between my Teton & Voltage after all.

So yes 17.5x6.75 Series07 Gunmetal Gray Aluminum HiSpec Trailer Wheel, 8 Lug, Center Cap Incl., 4850 lb Max Load These will work just fine on a Voltage or any Dutchman that has 235/85r-16. I swapped out with LT215/75R-17.5 as they match size wise to the 16

I replaced mine with Goodyear G614's also. Had the tire shop do it. They are auto, truck and RV repair shop. It is a Goodyear dealer in Findlay Ohio.

Shouldn't be a problem. I used the OEM ones that were on my Teton with those wheels & they worked fine. I'll do the same thing with the Voltage. You can also swap out tires with 215 or 235/75r-17.5 as either should fit just fine. Here is a example. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tir...16-235-75r17.5

tire flex and axle flex

Pulled my Voltage 2014 3950 out of indoor storage Friday after 6 months of pure Michigan winter and almost no real spring yet, it was 35 degrees in the morning here.I have a 500 mile round trip planned for Memorial day weekend and plan on pushing the China bomb tires one last trip , till I purchase 6 new tires.Still haven't picked which ones to purchase Maxis, Carlisle , michillens, and goodyears. Going to price them out , look at availability etc.Took a picture of side wall and axle flex on cement , temperature cool. Seen alot worse on asphalt ,hot days.Any suggestions ? $ pros and cons ! Guess I will just have to pull the trigger $

Ordered six 17.5" wheels from Trailer-Wheels.com and locally ordered six tires Sumitomo ST 727 in 215/75/17.5 did a lot of research on tires for speed rating (75mph), quality ratings and a tire made anywhere except China. Hankook TH10 is a nice tire in this size but made in china, so narrowed down to Goodyear GY114, Firestone 590 plus then found out they had speed ratings of 65 mph. The sumitomo are manufactured in Japan. Will post pictures when wheels arrive and commercial tire installs them on rig.

I went with Michelin XPS Rib on my last rig - was very happy and will more than likely go with those on this rig when the time comes.

I had stated this several times to members wanting to upgrade their tires, but alas. Seems like everyone went with the G614's or Michelin Ribs.

Great info! Just picked up my Voltage and I'm researching tires. I don't want to be messing with blow outs. Can you post pics of the 17.5"?

Also...why does the 17.5" make so much difference than the 16". (Sorry if this is a nb question).

1baddiesel I went one last time last year and got 22 miles from home before the cina bombs blew. I was going to replace them before I went out this year. At least I had insurance and they paid every penny. $1100. I was lucky the tire that blew was the back one on the passenger side. The back step frame caught all of the rubber and only tore up a very small section of sheet metal and nothing underneath. I had just checked all the tires 10 miles prior for sir. Everything was great, fooled me.
