Akuret Tires AGAINNNNN
Some may remember I had a blowout with my Akuret tires last fall. It was July. My voltage was less than a month out of Factory warranty. When I contacted the distributor I got the run a round but they wanted pictures etc. Many calls later as they customer service was terrible I was pushed off to the factory. I talked to a pleasant lady there who was very nice and efficient. The factory took a while to make a decision but finally did after wanting more pictures and documentation. Today I got a check for a tire. They sent the remainder of the money to the repair facility. I tried to have them make the check out to me but they said no. It was their policy to pay the repair facility only.. Strange
At least I got paid for the damage and repairs and the factory was pleasant to deal with.
I suppose the moral of the story is be persistent and dont give up if your tires fail.

How much longer are you going to keep those lousy Chinese tires?

I had a blowout with one of my Akuret tires this weekend. As usual, I checked the air pressure before I departed and all 6 tires were at 78 psi. I am now worried about these tires since the trailer is a 3895 Voltage purchased in June of 2013. Not many miles on these tires!!

Dutchman must have changed tire suppliers along the way...
My 2014 3895 Voltage manufactured in October 2013 has
Westlake tires.
I'm interested to hear if anyone has had
problems with the Westlake tires.

MY V3605 built 12/13 also came with Westlakes. I moved those over to my Teton & moved the 17.5" to the Voltage this past weekend.

Maybe they keep changing the names due to lawsuits? Just an uneducated guess!

Tires are spit out of the Asian factories by the millions. If you do a search for the factory codes you can find where your tires are made.
My curiosity got me looking, as I saw several tires that had the same tread pattern, but different names. When I found the factory codes and checked the plant where the tires were manufactured, they all came from the same plant.
Interesting to see where "North American" brands are made.

I was at Camping World in Nampa ID last weekend, wandered through the sales lot and was amazed how many new rigs, all different brands, were shoed with Westlakes. Must be the popper of choice these days

I have westlakes on mine and they have 1100 miles on them. (1 trip empty home from picking it up with 600 miles, and 1 trip to the beach.) I'm out camping right now on our first trip, and I literally noticed ondulation on the tires! New tires arrive next Wednesday, hope I can make it home (500 miles) on these tires without a blow out! Westlakes are also one of top 4 tires to avoid.

So what is everyone putting on there rigs instead of the foreign brands listed above. I am the kind of guy who will change them out before there is an issue to mitigate an issue.

Previous owner had 2 blowouts with the Akurets. Interestingly they were both on the rear trailer tires, left & right. Just replaced the Akurets with Maxxis tires since I have several trips planned this summer and don't want the drama, hassle and potential damage.

That would make me curious if previous owner was towing it with the nose too high placing more stress on the rears than the fronts...

I wondered same thing but with the reports I've seen of the Akurate tires on here I didn't want to chance issues on the roadside. With a late model trailer and 3 brands of tires on the ground already I thought it was time. I have run all the "Maypop" tires I care to in this lifetime.

Just one more critical variable in extending the life of the tires and mitigating the risk of a tire blowout. I'm sure many of us see rigs going down the road this way. I often wondered how many of them report problem with chinese tire bombs?

Issue in my 25+ years of towing hasn't been the China tires. It's these heavy rigs with 16" tires. I blew six American made G rated on my 03 Teton. Once I went to 17.5" problem went away. 2 of the 17.5 are Hankook & other 2 are Michelins.
