We have a 2011 kodiak 24 RESL . We bought it used and have now we have been out 3 times and the black water tank keeps filling up way before my grey tank. Initially I thought it was just a small tank but have now discovered that for sure the bathroom sink goes into the black holding tank and I suspect that the shower may as well. Is this design something Dutchmen is known for? How can this be corrected?? I have no issue with having to dump my grey water using a dump cart but having the toilet fill up and dumping black water is not fun and I don't enjoy knowing my poop can end up in my shower if the black tank overflows. YUCK. Please help
My question would be how large are the black and grey water tanks?
Might be that the grey is smaller and so some of the plumbing was run to the black water tank. Dumb in my opinion.
Our Dutchmen Voltage Epic 3800 has two black and two grey water tanks, each of them 48 gallons.
I'm afraid you're going to have to get into the belly of the beast to figure out how things are plumbed and work out a plan to change that. It can be done, lots of us have done some of that and are here to help!
As you open things up, don't forget to post pics!!!
Yah I don't have any clue on what tank sizes they put on this trailer as the owners manual is a general one for all Dutchmen trailers and previous owner didn't have a spec sheet for this trailer. Don't care if grey water is small I can deal with having to dump it more often if needed. Just this having any grey water going into the black tank is a really stupid design and am curious to know if Dutchmen was known for doing this?
Is it a 242 RESL? If so it has a pathetic 22 gal gray water tank, and a 39 gallon black water tank. Those tank sizes should be reversed, but that's what the factory brochure says. Sounds like a bad design and they piped the sink into the blackwater to make up for the small grey water tank.
My little camper has a 39 gallon gray water and a 28 black.

He sais it was a RESL, different camper. I was assuming it was the 242, since that's the only number close I could find. Totally different tanks than the RBSL.
This is a pdf page from the 2011 dealer brochure. Thak tank size isn't even reasonable.
