2007 Dutchmen 27B wall switch ID question

We have a switch on the wall but I can’t find anything on the manual about it. I think it’s for the water heater running electric or propane, but no idea what the on/off selections do. Anyone able to tell me? Had the trailer for 5 years and no idea at all… (which is kinda sad).

Suspect if it’s working properly there may be a problem with the electrical portion for hot water.

The switch on the left with the lightning bolt symbol indicates electric. The switch on the right with the flame symbol indicates propane. So it is likely for the water heater.

2007 Dutchmen 27B wall switch ID question

Not to mention it says Atwood which is a water heater manufacturer.

I suspect you only want one or the other on. Electric when on shore power and gas when boondocking. Even if electric works while boondocking it would likely drain your battery very quickly as generating heat uses lots of energy.

We are on 30 amp now. I will try it. The answer is pretty logical (of course), I just wondered if there was a “trick”.

Will play with it today and get it going.

Post make and model of water heater for better advice.

The water heater probably uses 12 volts for controls. Some do. Some don't.

The electric switch controls 120 volt heating element in the water heater. If it has ever been turned "ON" without water in the tank, then it is probably burned out.

The gas switch turns the propane burner "ON". It probably uses 12 volts to ignite the gas and control the temperature.

Most often both gas and electric can be used at the same time.

When you are taking a shower, switch the gas on so you will have LOTS of hot water, after the shower is over, switch it back to electric .
