Extended Warranty or Not to Extend the Warranty?

Finalizing the purchase of a hybrid tomorrow. Protective is offering a decent extended warranty. ANy experience or thoughts in the matter would be appreciated.
FWIW, All of our vacations are camping and this unit would be used
around 30 days a year, towed all over the midwest.

Crap shoot. As a general rule I DON'T buy extended warranties. How handy are you and how risk adverse?

On my trailer they wanted $2500 for an extended warranty, which works out to roughly 20% of the purchase price. Everything on the trailer would have to go out at once for me to break even on that cost. I kept my money. With some of the more complicated units it might be worthwhile.

Also check into EXACTLY what the warranty covers and check the reviews for the company that provides the warranty. As well as where the warranty work can and will be done. RV dealers are notorious for not wanting to do warranty work of any sort on units they did not sell.

I honestly think that a thorough PDI and keeping on top of routine maintenance will do more for a trailer than an extended warranty in most cases.

I don't usually purchase em either. Never, as a matter of fact. This is about 10% of the purchase price and I've read the detailed contract. Covers darn near everything. Lots of stuff I dont even have on this trailer. I like the peace of mind, but I hate throwing money away. Thanks again.

Repair Station warranty work

I found out that the hard way. I bought a TT from a dealer about 450 miles away. I got a good price even taking into consideration of the travel costs of picking it up. I was told by two local dealers, both Dutchmen warranty stations, that they won't touch my trailer for warranty work spring, summer, or fall. Another thread did say that if you officially document a warranty issue before the warranty expires, and also document it with Dutchmen, they will stand good for it when the repair station can get around to fixing it. Nice to know but still very frustrating.

I had a warranty, Cornerstone, then purchased a new Voltage, we went thru hell trying to get a refund on what was left on the Warranty….5year $2800.00

On the Voltage went with Good Sam and got 6years, for around $2800….The voltage was $20,000 dollars more then our Fuzion….Don't buy from the dealer, they get a cut
