Got it out today and made adjustments to the WD hitch set up. Really the only issue was the camper was nose high and causing a nice bouncing motion when we went over bumps.

Looking good!
Get some "stuff" in the front storage compartment and you will be in better shape.

I thought things went well. Truck and trailer seemed to work fine together and handled well down the interstate. Wife thinks the truck sounds like it is working to hard on hills so this worries her. Total load (me, the wife, gear, and trailer) is right around 7400 lbs. Well within our truck capability. Tow vehicle is a 2016 Toyota Tundra Limited. I feel all is ok with our set up.
With the wife's concerns we went and toured a couple Ford dealer parking lots ,after getting everything back home, looking a F250's. I can agree that the F250 will handle our load with ease but is the improvement worth the added cost of an F250? Is there anyone with experience with F250's that can offer some insight as to gas vs. diesel. I feel with the gas version you are going to still have the high RMP condition when going up hill as you do with the Tundra.

I tow approx same weight with 2014 Nissan Titan 8cyl. I switch to 3rd gear every so often and up hills
Seems ok and rated at 9200 lbs

Gas engines will run at higher RPM's than a diesel. It isn't hurting the engine. My bride had the same concerns with our F150. I showed her a RPM power chart and where the red line was. I won't say it convinced her, but she accepted my explanation and that it wasn't hurting the truck. We also had a PSD at the time that wouldn't even break a sweat pulling our little trailer.

Exactly the reason my wife drives to the campgrounds separately.

We made an 8 hour trip to Florida yesterday. Glad I traded the Toyota. The F250 handled like there was no trailer hooked up even with the wind. Once in a while we would feel a slight wiggle. Plus we have plenty of cargo capacity now.

I have a 15 Tundra double cab and also tow around the same weight. The tundra likes to downshift and rev but it also likes playing around with the converter lock....which I think is stupid. If it would just hang on to a gear and stop locking/unlocking it would tow a lot better. I notice this without a trailer also, so I know it's not the additional weight. The tundra has a good amount of torque but the software for the transmission could better use the torque instead of shifting excessivly and revving the engine when there is maybe 25% throttle applied.

Only problem I see with that set-up is you now have enough truck for a Toy Hauler.

New to the forum
Not sure how to start the posting. We are rdy for our first short trip of about 50 miles to a camp ground to see how truck and trailer travels together. I have a 2005 GMC Sierra extended Cab with a 5.3 vortex also truck equipped with factory trailer towing package, I also installed extra heavy load shocks. The trailer is a Dutchman Classic 6150 GVW..hope all goes well.
