Riverstone/Legacy
Guy at the site next to us has a Riverstone 5th wheel 38IK, which is a brand new model. Wife is in love with it. Owner seems very knowledgeable and says with all his research, next to the Mobile Suites Elite, the Riverstone Legacy (his is just a Riverstone) is the most 5th wheel for the money and very well constructed. I'd be looking for something with a rear bedroom (but not a deal breaker). My Voltage 3990 has been great and other than some minor self inflicted issues, basically trouble free. Being full paint, I can hold my own in looks with the best of them, but do like the living/entertainment space in a normal 5th wheel. Anyone have any knowledge on the Riverstsones/Legacy? Thanks.
Rusty

Just at the bourbon and Coke, looking on line stage. Haven't even begun to look at the whack I'd take on my 3990, which could be a deal breaker anyway. Besides, I'd never lave this forum regardless of what I RV with. Too much knowledge gained here (and a few laughs)!

Haven't seen one of those... yet.
Mobile Suites are good, as are Redwood and Grand Design. Another worth the look is VanLeigh, they are an outgrowth company of Tiffin motohomes. Just as an FYI, they all have issues of one sort or another regardless of the cost. How the dealer and manufacturer treat you is much more important.
My all time favorite was Teton Homes, but sadly they are out of business. I saw a Teton Royale the other day, hard to believe it was almost 12 years old. Monster triple axle with a GVW around 24K IIRC it was in the 45'-48' range.

I hear ya Rusty, in re a conventional 5th wheel. Since it doesn’t appear I’m gonna be able to ride anymore (thus, no toy to haul in the garage)... I’ve been mulling over trading mine in for something else. Nothing anytime soon, but... why deal with the compromises of a toy hauler if I have no toy?
I’ve been concentrating on Mobile Suites... but also with my eye on Redwood and another, whose name escapes me. Have never heard of Riverstone before, but will check em out.

I've always been skeptical of Forest River products and time will tell if this new model will perform or be problem laden like all the rest of the 5th wheels being thrown together and kicked out the door.

I have actually had pretty decent luck with FR stuff. I think ALL RV manufacturers have good days and bad days. Some just seem to take longer to figure their issues out than others.
My current RV is a Coachman, which is a subsidiary of FR, so far it has been relatively trouble free.
I saw a posting on a different forum the other night of a nightmare in the making with an Airstream Classic, apparently due to poor QC and lack of proper dealer support, those things are hitting close to $100k in price now. Airstream is owned by Thor, parent company of Dutchmen.

One thing I'd miss about my toy hauler is even without the HD, it is so nice to just throw plants, grill, golf clubs, boat supplies, and everything else in the garage without having to store it. Once we're in Florida, unload, and I have my dining room and my rear deck to have coffee on. I think the Legacy is the top of the Riverstone line, while Riverstone is Forest River's high end line, so I've been told. I'll check out Aaron's Van Leigh also.

Yeah... same here. I just arrived & got set up on South Padre Island for the winter. Home office set up in the garage, along with my Craftsman tool cart for various projects would be missed... not to mention breakfast on the rear deck, enjoying the cool morning breeze.

My Aerolite and Wolf pup reveal very similar DNA at the core of each unit. I don't see any obvious quality difference in the actual construction and attention to detail. However, the Aerolite IS a more luxuriously appointed product, so your first impression might be to choose it as the better. But that'd be like saying a Lariat is a better built truck than an XLT. Know what I mean?
As for having a toy hauler without a toy being hauled..........Man, I don't think I could give up the versatility of that garage space. It can be anything you want it to be. Only takes minutes to convert from cargo room to informal den or dining room. Or an espresso bar. Or a bunkhouse at the beach for the grandkids. Or ..........
