Re: Komfort 2012

Update on my Komfort 3650, after two trips I have found two issues, The first was the fwd living room was not getting cooled by the A/C unit. I found that the wood trim with slots cut in them for air flow was cut too low allowing only one slot open. I cut an additional slot over the existing two with a router and solved that issue. The second issue is the grab handle has rust popping out under the white powdercoat, which should not be happening on a 2012 model two months old.

Re: Komfort 2012

I think we had a list of 14+ things to fix after our shake down trip not including what we found during the PDI.

But, I kind of expected that. You should be able to just let the dealer know and get it replaced. If you want to do it yourself they might let you take some pic's to send back to the manufacturer and then get the handle shipped to you.

on the new rig!

Good to hear there are no more issues, what brand of TPMS did you install?

Re: Komfort 2012

Hello,
I also have a 3650FFL and love it. I also had several mostly minor issues, all of which were resolved by the dealer. I discovered a new problem last night while riding out tropical storm Debbie in Sarasota, FL the egress window over the bed started to leak during the periods of intense horizontal rain. Further investigation revealed that the weather seal strip had been seamed right at the top in the middle, at this seam water dripped and filled the sill and began to over flow into the bed before I caught it. Today, I opened the window and it was a crappy seam job, I checked the remaining windows and all were dry except the other egress window in left living room which was full of water. I think moving the seam to the bottom would fix it, but we'll see how they choose to resolve it. Over all, I love the unit, I full time mostly staying in one place with weekend trips here and there. I read with great interest your post on front a/c unit, I find the whole configuration annoying, basically, the front unit runs forever and the back unit cycles on/off as thermostat in kitchen gets satisfied. It is a great balancing act, especially with the bathroom and bedroom doors shut. Gotta run, but I look forward to exchanging experiences and ideas! Take care, Rod

Hi, Rod.

Welcome to the group. Hope Debbie dies down soon. Fl. has had way too much rain and bad weather out of this.

Stay safe,

Re: Komfort 2012

After leaving SC we went to the outer banks of NC and stayed at a KOA in Rondanthe. RV site was damaged last year and they are still rebuilding. The spotters they had there needs some training as they tried to put me in a spot between two Motor coaches backing into the spot which was impossible. I requested a pull thru but did not get one. I was not satisified with the staff at that KOA. Paid extra for cable and it did not work and they offered no refund. Nice location but needs a lot of work. Left there and traveled to New Bern NC for a week stay at KOA on Hwy 17. Very nice accomadations and the sites are large with a patio, shade trees, patio furniture and all I highly reccomend this KOA. I have an issue with the A/C on the 3650. The bedroom unit runs all the time does not get cool. The front unit runs and cycles as it should. I had an issue with the emergency window in the kitchen when I first bought the unit and Camping World fixed it(was a seal issue not sealing) Next trip is to the Mountains of NC for a week of prospecting for gold. will update progress after we hit it rich(LOL)

Re: Komfort 2012

Hello, on your bedroom unit is the compressor coming on? About 10 secs after fan starts blowing you should hear the compressor start. If the compressor is coming on and the air isnt cold, they will need to check the refridgerant. On my unit when I cleaned the filter the first time, I found a probe hanging down, turns out it was a freeze sensor designed to protect the coils in a freeze condition, the lable attached said to insert between fins, if this isnt done carefully you could end up with a leak, which could cause your symptoms. Use a flashlight and look up into the coils, if there is a leak sometimes you can see the oil residue. The thermostat is odd as well you set the way the unit works while the fan is selected i.e. if you want the unit to run on auto you set that while in fan mode, then you go to ac. My first trip the unit ran full blast constantly and came to find out it was in high setting in fan mode, once set to auto, it will run hi or low and finally cycle off when temp is reached. I find setting the inside temp a challenge as the thermostat in the kitchen controlling the unit in the bedroom behind two doors seems like a poor concept, the unit up front has its own internal theromstat and runs constantly with compressor cycling on off but is too noisy. I would have paid extra to just have two 15kbtu units set up duel zone, with thermostat in bedroom and one in kitchen. Enjoy your trip!

Re: Komfort 2012

Thanks for the info. When I turn the bedroom unit on the fan starts blowing and the compressor comes on with cool air for about 10 minutes than it gets warm, it then blows what cool air that is left in the plenum from the front unit. I agree that the Kitchen unit is noisy and should be located further to the front as the front living section gets very warm with the A/C running. The cool air just never seems to get there. I will get the bedroom unit checked out when I return to Camping World along with the power awning which stuck open while I was in New Bern NC. I had a heck of a time getting it to close. It acted like it was frozen and I pulled it back manually so it began to retract and would stop, I had to wait several minutes and retract it a little more then it would stop again. it took about 8 cycles of start and stop to get it closed. With that said the KOA and staff in New Bern were great and very supportive with the fact that my wife lost her Pomeranian of 12 years to congested heart failure Sunday. We left there about 5 hrs later than planned and they let us park our fifth wheel off to the side of their entrance until we were done with our problem. We arrived inStokesdale NC and the third leg of our trip with no issues will spend a week here and travel up to the mountains from Stokesdale as our home base. Weather has been very hot all around even up at the higher elevations. will post more events as they happen. AP

Re: Komfort 2012

Hello,
Sorry to hear about your dog. Did you say you have an ac unit in kitchen? My 13.5kbtu unit with integrated thermostat is located in living room, with the 15kbtu in the bedroom, thermostat is in the kitchen. I better readup on how to manually pull in that awning and the slides for that matter, I got a bad habit of waiting till it breaks to figure it out. Enjoy your trip, a bad day of camping is better than a good day at work!

Re: Komfort 2012

Yes on my 3650 Komfort the front unit 15KBTU is located in the Kitchen area with the thermostat in the living area and the bedroom unit 15KBTU theromostat is located in the kitchen on the wall next to the big slide. The front unit seems to override the bedroom unit with its temp setting. I am going to see if I can move the theromostat to the bedroom area. I sprayed WD40 on the struts for the awning and now its workd fine each time, I found a little rust forming near the exit tube for the rods, which cleaned off easy. The final leg of this three week trip came to an end July 12 when we got back to Texas and lots of rain. The roads in La on I-10 took a toll on my Kitchen cabinets as they flew open and the contents fell out on the kitchen floor and some screws came out from the drawers in the bedroom causing the drawers to hang up. Have fixed both issues and put those child proof cabinet locks on the handles of the upper cabinets in the kitchen. Other than the above mentioned items the trailer did fine on this trip
