Suspension sag

2017 Aerolite 294RKSS. It appears my springs have sagged causing my tires to scrub the bottom of my slide and the underside wearing through the fabric and into the plywood. I do not overload the trailer but that is what appears to have happened. Anyone else experience sagging suspension? Any solutions?

I don’t know anything about your model trailer but I am guessing you need to replace your leaf springs.

Have you weighed the trailer to see just how heavy it is.? and checked against the specs.

You may want to examine the spring hangars and bolts/bushings on the springs. LCI furnishes the chassis to Dutchmen and they are not the best of quality and have been known to “flatten out”. You can do a search of this site and you will find several topics regarding leaf springs and what folks did about them to remedy the issues. Also, a picture or two may help us help you. By the way, is it sagging on both sides or just the one?

Good luck, let us know what you do.

Springs sagging

I had the same problem on my 2016 Kodiak 279RBSL. Found that the springs installed were rated 2500 LBS on 3500 LBS axel. Upgrade the leaf springs on both sides to heavier leaf springs from NORTHERN TOOL, then repaired the hole in the bottom of the trailer No more problems. Hope this helps!

SumoSprings

I had the same problem on my 2014 Aerolite 225 RBSL. Installed 'SumoSprings' . These are cushions installed between your leaf springs and your frame. Haven't had the issue recur since. Also supposed to help with sway and bounce and such.
Slow down when you see the 'dip' or 'bump' signs on the highway/interstate especially when you see tire tracks there. They were created by somebody's tires getting squooshed between the road and the underbelly.

I put sumo's on mine as could not find shocks that would fit. They seem to work very good. A lot less bounce etc.

Bottom line is these factory leaf springs are garbage.

Seems like the Sumo’s would help with the stuff inside also and not be jumping up and down on some of these interstates that feel like you’re in a rocking chair.
