Electric dump valve
Hi folks,
Quick question....we are finally going seasonal this year and I was wondering what some of you think about the electric dump valves. It sounds great as you have a remote and can dump without even setting foot outside. Any issues or concerns???

Don't have them, but I've followed the posts (there are numerous ones on this site) of people that have installed them. Don't recall anyone saying they regretted it. If I wasn't selling my unit, I'd put them on, especially in light of all the cable failures people have.

I installed 4 in my coach and no regrets. When you say remote, not really. The are electric and you can put the switch anywhere I suppose but not sure why you would put them inside. Mine are all in the wet bay so when I'm out there dumping, they are right there. I think it is the best mod I have made so far. Time consuming, dirty, and a lot of work but would do it again if had a new coach no doubt.

Electric Dump Valves
Thanks for the feedback on the valves. My concern is, should you run out of power, dead battery etc... is there a manual override??

Yes there is, but for me I would have to get to the valve for access. Would be easier to jump your battery or connect your truck.

This is on my to-do list before the start of this season. Looking at using Valterra EZ-Valve brand. Will only be able to do 2 of my 3 valves as the 3rd one (2nd grey tank used in kitchen) is exposed. The other 2 will be on the Black and Grey tanks since they are behind the under-belly cover. I'm going to have to do some conversion on the grey tank as it is 1.5" compared to 3" on Black. Valterra.com has sent me a list of the parts needed for the conversion but am still seeing if I can do it (space/enough clearance).

Check out Barker Electric Waste Valves. Good reviews plus they have 1 1/2" (although I think Valterra also has 1 1/2").

My personal preference is the Barker valves, due to the sizes available as well as repair parts being readily available. Nothing against the Valterra. Just like the offerings of Barker a bit better.

I'd buy those just based on the directions, " Holding tanks should be emptied before installation, this is highly recommended"

Well worth it - love mine. Planning to install the other two this spring.
