Having done a lot of research along this line, I couldn't pass up adding my "two cents" here... I have two 2,000 watt Champion generators and a 13,500 btu AC unit. The AC manual says I need at least a 3,500 watt generator to handle the starting load.
I checked with easy start (their office is literally within 6 miles of my home) to find out if installing an easy start system would allow one of my two Champion generators to run my AC unit.
They said that based on their experience it would not work with a single 2000 watt Champion generator..... (I love working with honest people!!)
Since I already have the two gen sets and a parallel kit, it was not a problem for me. I have had virtually no problem with my 3 year old Champion gen sets.
Having said that. I think that newer AC units my have lower starting power requirements.
Soooo..... Before installing the relatively expensive Easy start system, I would call Easy Start to make sure it will work with your hardware.
The do have a list of gen sets that their system has worked with vs AC btu rating on their website, which is a great place to start..
Safe Travels to all..
