Hello all, I have wanted to upgrade our pantry since we first got our trailer last year. Here are the beginning pictures, door removed and everything out. I will post more in a little while.
Ok my plan is to put in sliding trays or shallow drawers. After stripping everything out of the pantry I built a framework for the sliders. I used 1/2 inch Birch plywood for all of this project. I used 22 inch full extension 100 lb. sliders. Here are pictures of the frames and sliders.
I built deep narrow drawers for this. Everything is jointed, glued and nailed together. I used 1/4 inch Birch plywood for the bottoms. Here are pictures of the drawers. I pre-fit them in place before staining.
The boss liked the idea of having shelves that weren't 2 feet apart (and more of them) so what's a man to do?
After a little bit of measuring it became apparent that narrowing down the available space by the amount necessary to install slides etc. seemed counter-productive, I opted on merely adding open shelves. Three additional shelves make much better utility of the storage space as very few items we carry would make use of the original 22 inch distance between shelves.
Then there was that "dead space" under the sink where they installed a panel at a depth of about a foot from the cabinet doors. Being the curious sort, I removed it to find all kinds of space around the water and gas piping. Here's a set of two 19 inch deep drawers completely clearing those pipes and providing storage space for cooking and other kitchen ware.
