Battery Disconnect and bus bar wiring?
Anyone have pics of how the factory wired in your battery disconnect and bus bar supplying the other loads on their trailer?
My disconnect is only between the battery charger and batteries.
The bus bar has it's own wire from the batteries to the bus bar and this keeps all the loads hot all the time.
Seems really odd to me. I'm thinking it needs to be wired so the disconnect cuts all battery power to the house loads. The only thing about doing this is I would have to run the charging power cable to the bus bar and from the bus bar to the batteries and I'm not sure if that would be the proper setup or not.
Thanks in advance!
Brice

Maybe I'm over think it and maybe it doesn't matter if the charging supply goes to the bus bar or not but just seems like the charging supply should be hooked up directly to the batteries and not the bus bar.

Red wire on the left is from the battery disconnect. Red wire on the right goes to the power center. What does yours look like?

I think yours has been rewired at some point. There are two sides to a m or ni breaker, the input side has a copper colored lug and the output is silver colored. If you look at mine I have an extra breaker that is different becuase I added an 80 amp for the pump. This comes directly off the battery.
On yours it looks like the disconnect that would power up the breaker bank is on the wrong side. The other two wires should be on the output side.
I would have to look at the other connections to be sure.

Rever411,
I agree with you that the electrical was changed. I bought it brand new and had never done anything until now. Who knows? Dealer? Factory? Not sure but now that I'm getting into it I want to make it right. I went back out and took another look at the wire block. Took it apart and found out it is actually a fuse block. They are labeled on the back side. I'll need more spare parts now that I know this.
I'll spend more time on it tomorrow when I get home. Sure wish there was a wiring diagram for thees units.
Thanks again for the quick response.

True. The kill switch is in the wrong place.

The factory setup had the kill switch in the wrong place. I added a second bank for dedicated generator start, and solar chargers, and combiner, so mine is a but more complex now..

Yep, yours looks a lot more involved then mine at this point.
And to think,I started out two days ago just to add a
Victron BMV-712 battery monitor. . Next we will add a 3k watt charger/ inverter.

Battery Disconnect
If you only have one battery disconnect it should really disconnect EVERYTHING, otherwise what eventually happens is that the one thing that does not go thru the disconnect switch is the one thing that will become damaged. You can always have multiple disconnects for the any 12V circuit that runs to the battery (12v appliances, battery charger, solar, inverter, etc.) At a minimum you should have fuses in line with each of the circuits that runs to the battery. If you use DC circuit breakers, they can double as disconnect switches. This lets you turn-off/isolate individual circuits for troubleshooting without turning everything off.

Brice,
I have the same year and model as you. My positive power cable runs directly to the shut-off switch (which is accessible from the passenger side storage access door) then back to the positive bus bar in the battery storage compartment.
The only other positive cable that is connected to my batteries is the generator cable, so when the shut-off switch is in the off position all of the 12 volt devices are off (including the power start switch for the generator).
I have made some modifications, including adding a Victron BMV-712, but the original wiring is the same. If you are still dealing with this issue let me know and I will send you whatever photos you need if I have it..

Second time I've used this photo today.
Big black wire on the left goes down to the battery disconnect. The black one that goes up from the other side of the auto-reset breaker on the left goes to the WFCO (and from there to the 12V power distribution panel).
