What do you tow your 300tq with?
How does the mpg vary between daily driving and towing?
Currently have a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and are only getting 11mpg around town, but much better than the 8mpg towing. Trying to decide if that's the piece we pay for a larger trailer or if a newer tow vehicle would be more efficient.
I cannot speak to your 300tq and your tow vehicle but if you are chasing fuel efficiency I would say don’t bother. I have a 2017 RAM 2500 Cummins turbo diesel and get about 9-11 mpg—when towing my 13-16k fifth wheel. You would certainly do better than me as your trailer is half that but I think if you can get 10 with a new truck you would save maybe 20% on fuel but you will need to save a ton of money to cover the cost of a new truck. Maybe you could do better—I am not sure.
The aerodynamic drag might be worse on your economy than the trailer weight too so basically your are pushing a giant brick through the air and towing an even bigger and heavier brick.
I am just guessing so maybe someone with a newer truck and your exact or similar trailer can chime in.
I drive a RAM 3500 Cummins and get about 24 MPG not towing and on a flat surface with no head wind around 16 mpg towing my 13 K 5er. These numbers a manually calculated but aren't that far off what the truck says (about 1 +/- mpg off)

Our 7.3 F350 gets 10 to 12 empty or pulling fifth wheel. Remember you got a truck and an RV for the smiles And if it works for you and your family What could be better

Wow, those are crazy good numbers. Better than I think I have ever got in any car. Both my boys have 4 cylinders cars and you beat them too—but they are boys that probably have a heavy right foot. Consider yourself fortunate!
I have the same trailer as you. I tow at about 10,000 pounds loaded. My 1999 Ford F-250 7.3 diesel gets about 17 miles per gallon freeway empty and about 9 miles per gallon when towing the 300tq.
I would just look for your best price on gas or diesel and enjoy your trailer
The delta MPG is relatively low for current tow vehicle versus new. It will take a lot of miles to justify a new tow rig. How much fuel can be bought for $60K?
