My Voltage came with china bombs that lived up to their name..a few thousand miles and boom.. I lost my left fender and tire.. I thought I upgraded to Maxxis. A couple thousand miles, maybe 2 at most, and boom I lost my right fender. I came to the conclusion all these tires are junk especially the ST ones. I upgraded to a J rated tire and a 17.5 inch rims. These tires look like semi tires and for the first time since I have owned the beast it does not wander and sway. It rides like a dream and of course no problems with them. As a note I carry well over 2000 in the cargo bay and cannot tell the weight is there now.

Has anyone had any experience with Kenda Karrier tires? They make a ST235 85 R16 in an "F" load range. The on-line reviews that I could find were all good, but I'd prefer to hear from anyone who may have experience with them.

Have F rated Carlisle on my rig. Nearing 8,000 miles so far so good. Got 18,000miles from the oem Westlakes. No problem other than not very good mileage

My oem Westlakes tossed the tread on the way to Branson. Only 6000 miles and a year old. Will post pics on my other thread when the rain stops.

Holy crap Russ!
WTF are they thinking? Have they reimbursed you for the tires? Where should I look for this info? Certainly something to think about on a hot day rolling down hill from Goldfield, NV
Dan.

Here is what can happen with a tread separation.
Damage done by a Westlake Tread Separation.

That sucks, but throwing the tread is not something unique to a particular tire or country of origin.
This is why I run my hands over the sidewalls and tread during my daily pre-trip and at each stop during the day.
I found a bulge on the inside edge of the tread on one of the US made Goodyear Marathons on my old Airstream, at a mid-day fuel stop. This was most likely not a defect in the tire, but a road hazard that caused a bruise that eventually started the separation. Had I not found the bulge, it would have done the same thing to my Stream.
This is why I don't trust TPMS as the be all and end all of tire monitoring. If I would have TPMS it would not have indicated a problem until there was a catastrophic failure.
I live for this kind of thing, there is a problem. You have plastic wheel opening trim and a laminated floor that can't handle that kind of stress.
Now there has to be a solution. I have a couple of ideas and being as we have had our first snowfall of the year, (about an inch and it's going fast) I am going to have some extra time on my hands to ponder it.
Anybody got any ideas? And no I'm not changing to 17.5" wheels, or going to LT tires.

I found it easier to get rid of the bombs, instead of trying to make my RV bomb proof.

That could work, but some of the places we drag the camper you need a lift kit.
I still need to find a permanent fix for the damage that the floor suffered when the shackles broke and the tire rubbed on the floor.

Had I not found a good ST tire that has preformed beyond my expectations, I may have done the same thing.
I feel a whole lot better about spending the money I've saved on my brake and suspension upgrades.

Go to post reply & click on attachments. Chose the picture file you want, click on it & open. Upload & then when posting in reply reclick on attachments to post your pictures along with any comment.
Note these damage wasn't caused by Westlake tires. These were American Made Goodyear 14 ply tires
