New Dutchman Owner

Just a quick note about us, I'm a retired Army 1SG, my wife works for the state of Indiana, we just purchased a 1995 Dutchman 1203 Pop-up Camper, it needs some TLC, so we will be looking towards the folks in this forum for some advise.

We are looking forward to our camping ventures and all the conversation we will have on this forum.

Thanks in advance!!

Congratulations on the purchase and thanks for your service. I go thru Scottsburg all the time, frequently staying at the Holiday Inn Express there. Nice town. Aaron on this forum, is the pop-up trailer king. He can answer any question you have. Good luck and have fun.

Militaryman,
Since you already have it, the first thing I always check when I'm going to rebuild one, I mainly work on Truck Campers, but I would check and repair the wheels, brakes, shocks, etc. then go to the frame, after that, then go into checking the equipment, if it has a stove, Ref, toilet,Heater, water pump, Gas tanks (propane)....Repair or replace as needed, On the Propane tanks, they may be to old and need replacing, on the gas hoses, check for leaks, then move on to the popup, replace or replace hardware, then the top....
If you are good with your hands, you will have fun and know everything about your popup...I have taken a few Truck Camper total apart, even replacing the sheet medal, not much to them after you get in there....Good Luck..

Welcome to the forums!

Popups are a great place to start. We bought ours to get out of the tents... now the "tent" is 32' long and gets 9.5mpg.

I have been to Scottsburg, IN... more than once. We camped there way back in the mid 70's at Raintree Park. That convinced my parents that camping WAS not the way to save money. I have stayed at the Hampton Inn there several times on my travels up and down I-65. Haven't been out that way in about 3 years though.
