water pump wouldn't turn off

We have never used the fresh water tank, but went to 100% hookups during our first season with the TT. This year, we will be doing much more boondocking.

When de-winterizing, I used the pressurized city water connection instead of putting water in the fresh water tank. After clearing most all my lines of anti-freeze, I wanted to clear any remaining anti-freeze in the water pump and the bypass valve/tube from last winter. I noticed that the water pump would not shut off. It finally dawned on me that perhaps the pump was trying to pump dry with no water "priming" or pressurizing it. I added a tiny amount of water to the bypass tube and the pump sucked it through without problem.

My question is this - when I fill our fresh water tank for the first time, will the pump be able to automatically get suction from the tank and be happy?

It should be happy to lift the water from the tank. The pumps are designed to be run dry, as if running out of water, and be able to pick up or lift the water once the tank is filled with water. No priming is needed if the system is free of air leaks.

You are correct...it lifted water right out of the fresh water tank without an issue. Thanks!
