Onan 4k help

I am new to generators its my first class c allways had travel trailers. The generator starts up but keeps surging idles up and down and what ever is on in side a/c etc. Does the same then after about ten minutes it shuts down and the switch keeps flashing 3 times, i have no clue where to start to fix it

Is the gas tank over 1/4 full ? If not then the Gen is probably running out of gas there is a fail safe built in that will shut the Genny off before draining the gas tank. Has it been run as stated in the manual ?, if not could be the carb and that now requires a new carb as Onan quit selling Carb. kits. You can DLD a manual from the company and it tells you what the flashes mean.
