Generator Question!
I recently purchased a 2016 Voltage 3914. Question I have is when I turn off the battery power the Generator primes for a bit and I get a over prime error on the In Command. Is this normal? New Guy here so not sure if this is the correct place to ask tech Questions!

If I had to offer a SWAG I'd say the 'over prime' error comes from the fuel pump not being able to prime. Mainly, because there isn't any battery power to run the primer pump.

It's a 2016, new to most of us so the gremlins are new also. The learning curve begins again. We can concur, it's no telling what they did that day when building your rig.
It might have a fuel valve that is controlled by the battery cut off switch. I don't know, they don't know

I would have thought that the Voltage guys would have been around by now to answer your question.
If I am recalling a previous thread correctly, your genset has a dedicated battery so you can start it when the coach batteries are dead.

In my Voltage 3105, there is one battery for everything. I'll have to try turning off the battery cut off, and seeing if the generator throws a code. It doesn't make sense, but one never knows how they wire these things.

Found the thread, it's on a different site and was dealing with a modification to the whole electrical system.

Welcome to the forums!
Which generator do you have? And I have to assume gasoline powered?

Generator Question!
Follow the wires... My generator is hard wired directly to the house battery and starts with the battery switch off.

I am going to take a look at the wiring diagram, it sounds like something got wired direct and something else that should have didn't.

Ok.. So I have one battery in the compartment to the left of the generator. Is there a hidden one i need to look for? I would look before asking but my storage is 30 minutes away.

No, both battery would be together, so if you only have one battery, then it is connected to the Gen and other items, even when you have the switch OFF

Problem is every model is slightly different. On mine and most of the units I have seen the generator is wired directly to the battery. Seems strange that disconnecting a load would cause the genny to prime. That would probably indicate some sort of wiring problem. Couple of things to look at. Verify both the positive(Red) and negative(red) are both wired directly to the battery or NOT. Having one lead direct and one somewhere else could cause a ground feed problem somewhere. If the genny is not wired direct follow the wires to see where they go. If after the battery switch, I'm willing to bet there is a ground loop somewhere.
