Backup Camera
I am adding a backup camera to my 291resl. I think that I am going to take the power from one of the three clearance lights at the top of the trailer. What would everyone suggest for mounting the camera itself? Would you use an adhesive, self tapping screw, something else?

Please give us an update once it's done. I've got a 291 resl and have been thinking about doing the same thing. I'd be interested in how you did it.

That's how the dealer did my Install. Just keep in mind that your running lights have to be on for the camera to get power. I forgot that step and spent 30 minutes trouble shooting for why my camera wasn't working the day after it was installed. Fortunately I have a smart wife and she called the dealer. I got the "hey dummy, turn your lights on" comment from her.

That's exactly how I mounted mine...right above the middle running light and got my power from it and screwed it into the fiber glass panel with a lot of dicor sealant on the screw and backing plate for camera.

Did you have a backing plate on the inside of the rv? I can not find a way to get to the inside of mine, so I would just be using screws into the fiber glass and that is it. I have an entertainment center on the inside and it is nailed together.

I installed a Double Din Stereo in my truck that has a application for backup camera. The camera is mounted to my license plate frame on the truck. I am going to add a license plate camera to the back of the trailer and run video cable to the front. When I plug in the trailer I will just unplug the trucks backup camera and plug in the trailer camera. You can have the camera come on when you put the truck in reverse or you can have it on all the time...

Camera added
I decided I wanted to avoid drilling any holes in the fiberglass if I could. I wanted to just mount the camera to the bumper, but could not get the spare tire out of the way enough without coving a tail light. This is what I came up with. I took a piece of scrap metal and bolted it to the spare tire holder. Then I ran cables all the way to the front. I just zip tied the wire to existing wires on the bottom of the TT. If I didn't already have the ends on the cables I could have run it through holes in the frame. What do you think?

It is a '16. We got a really good deal on it and changed out some things that we wanted from the '17. The '16 had some stuff in it that we like that the '17 didn't and vice versa. What we ended up with is a combination of the two. It took the dealership 2 months to get and install everything. The only stuff I wish it had was the new front and the new auto leveling system.
I pull it with an '02 Cadillac Escalade. It does a decent job. Can't really gain speed up a decent grade but does great on flat land.

Camera Test
I got to drive it around after the camera mod yesterday. The camera level is great. I really like the view. I could see how a camera on the top pointed down at the bumper would be helpful though. Unfortunately above 50 MPH the camera is really shaky. I will have to find a way to fix that.

When needed for backing into space I use my "hitch ball" magnetic camera. Just put on the bumper back in and then put it away. You mounted one looks good.
