I am interested in your information as well. The MoRyde kit does look better than the LCI kit. I may skip the top bolts since it was found there were brass bushings (Never Fail?) already installed.

Okay, here is a photo of the short bolt (all long bolts are installed). As I said earlier I have two extra short bolts. The long bolt measured from the same point it 3 1/2" long to the end of the treads.

Here is a list of parts you will need;

12 Bronze bushings would get 14 just in case one or two break while installing.
14 Long bolts- I think they list them as a 3 3/4" bolt.
16 Shorter bolts

All the equal-flex connections already have bronze bushings. Only ones that need replaced are the Leaf Spring ends. They all had plastic bushings installed. They came out real easy with a pair of needle nose pliers, slid one jaw between the leaf spring and the bushing in about a half of an inch and twisted them inwards they will collapse and pull right out. Also found if you used a round fine file and cleaned up the inside of the leaf spring and use a little WD-40 and a plastic hammer the new bushings slide right in.

I replaced all the bolts on the Equa- flex except the center bolt, did not see any reason to replace it.

Not sure if you can use the never fail bushings, but don't see why you couldn't. As long as there is a little room between the bushing and the bolt for the grease.

Here is the sticker on my axels, shows part number and info.

Hope this helps! I really do not see any difference between the LCI shackles and the other brand as long as you get the Heavy duty shackles. They are both about a half inch thick.

Never fail bushings are a nylon not the Bronze. All connections of the Equa-Flex already have the bronze bushings but no lube.

Moto4play - thanks again for all of the details. I will tackle mine in the coming weeks. Are there any pics you wished you'd have taken while it was apart to share? I can be sure to get those and post them here.

The only thing would be the brass bushings in the Equa-Flex and the larger connection that requires the 3 3/4" bolt.

Otherwise it is pretty strait forward.

Keep us posted please on any other ideas. I have been following this post. Still waiting for delivery of our 3950 and it sounds like this would be a good idea to do. I bought it used (its a 2013) so I'm guessing it will be ready for this. Moto4play you said the shackles were longer?? By how much?? The longer the shackles the lower the ride height........am I figuring that right? This is a great post especially for the people that can do it themselves.

The first shackles I received were longer and yes you are figuring it right. The longer the shackle the lower the ride height. I swapped the longer shackles for the correct length Heavy duty shackles. They are 2 1/4" center to center of the holes and a 1/2" thick.

Took me just under 4 hours per side with greasing the hubs and adjusting the brakes as well.

Mine only had about 3-4K miles and it needed it all. Bushings were just about to wear through, hubs were low on grease and all wheels but one, needed the brakes adjusted.

Thanks for the info, that was my ignorance on them. After looking at Lipperts site, one could just install Never Fail bushings with the heavier shackles and forgo the extra maintenance of greasing each point...

They claim that those bushings last longer than brass with grease. Is this all hype or true?

Received my kit from Mor/Ryde Saturday - very beefy. I have yet to verify if I need any other hardware as the cold has decided I will wait a bit to start this project...

Thanks, look forward to your install.

I am now contemplating installing Correct Track when I do the wet bolts. May help with bushing longevity.

I thought about doing the same to preserve tires and reduce the stress on the tires. Interested on how it works and how easy it is to install.

I have no plans on using Correct Track - I was able to adjust my trucks hitch to get level and then as we load the rig up, I use the air bags to fine tune it.

The Correct Track is to adjust the alignment of the axles so they will track straight down the road, nothing to do with height adjustment, though a side effect of the Correct Track is the trailer is 2 inches higher.

Understood - I don't want anymore height at all as there are a few bridges in the Detroit area that tighten up the rectum enough as I sit now when coming thru

Not so much bridges for me as they normally give you a height. It's low hanging tree branches for me.

Don,

Bringing up an old thread here...what parts did you end up ordering/replacing? I am going to get the same thing when I pack my bearings and adjust brakes. Did you have any lessons learned?

I am planing on doing a wheel at a time, probably a few weeks worth of work, but trailer will stay in place. Any concerns of having the trailer sitting on the deck with mismatched hardware?

Cale

Cale, I did the wet bolt kit as well as the E-Z Flex kit from Dexter. Was very easy, actually. A large c-clamp with sockets can be used to press the bushings into place but is really easy with a ball joint press (Harbor Freight one worked fine). I set aside a weekend to do it, but it only took about 5-6 hours to do both sides. You'll be shocked at the condition of the plastic bushings you pull out. Also, I had to cut the rear black water drain pipe to do the rear left axle, so get a 3" fitting ahead of time with some ABS cement. I used the camper jacks to lift it up and you'll two smaller jacks to lower the axles for removal and to lift them for reassembly. Don't let it intimidate you. Was really easy. Also, when you press out or hammer out the old bolts, grind the teeth off one of them so the entire shaft of the bolt is smooth - you'll use that one to press the bronze bushings in with. That's all I can remember as far as tips or lessons learned. Seeing your other posts, you'll knock it out in a day as well or wonder why you didn't do it in one day...
