Cale, I'm out of state right now without my unit. No rush, but whenever you have a chance, a photo and mounting location (maybe from foot of the bed or whatever) would help. As always, I appreciate your help.

We put a heavy denver mattress in ours (same as we have in the house). Needless to say my struts are useless now. One of these days I'll get around fjnding heavier struts.

Campingworld sells a bed lift kit. We bought one & made a storage area under our bed in the house. Works out good for extra storage area. Seems like we are always looking for space to put stuff.

Here are two pictures. The struts are 20 inches fully extended and 12 inches compressed. These are 80lb struts, I know heavier ones can be ordered, I have a buddy that ordered some to install on an outside door, they looked to be good quality.

Let me know if there are other angles you wouldlike.

Here is an alternative style of mount. I bought my kit from CW but here is a link to the Hatch Lift website, they have a wide variety of struts and mounts.

Aaron - can you give me the measurements of your set up - yours looks more the size of the "storage area" we have rather than Cale's.....

I just measured the struts I purchased from CW it looks to be 21" extended and approximately 12" compressed.....

I found a label www.mygassprings.com - part # is SE200P-90 - if I'm reading this right - it looks like a 90# strut?????

Sorry guys if this is a "dumb women" question/topic!

Thank you both!!!!!

Those struts are what my buddy installed on his outside door, those are about the same measurements. We saw them at Camping World, but found them cheaper elsewhere. That 90 should be a 90 lb strut and should do you fine. When there is only a mattress (no bedding), the 80lb struts lift very easily. Depending on the bedding once made, they are just about at their limits, but still do fine.

FYI, on the subject of this thread, CW has Sleep Number beds on sale at this time. I'm not personally in the market, the factory mattress with 2" closed-cell foam on top works for us. But we've had the Sleep Number at home, and if you're in the market for a $1200 mattress, they have them in Queen Short.

Not sure why everyone is recommending a Queen Short when the stock Queen fits fine.
Have one in my Teton & the Voltage.

Our bed is the width of a queen, but the length of a full. In other words, Queen Short. A regular queen would hang off the end. Depends on your model. You guys with the big Voltages probably have room for the larger.

Good point - that is where having a somewhat descriptive signature block helps in answering questions by folks with direct experience instead of us in the peanut gallery just chiming in. I need to look at those blocks more often myself before responding.

I too, must admit some fault. I just check the "new posts," and saw a discussion on Sleep Number Beds. Only just now I saw it was in the Toy Hauler - Voltage / Rubicon section. Pardon me.

No worries, Marty - we are all here with the best of intentions - I will back out of this one now that I see there are differences in the mattress lengths among the same sizes - would have never guessed that...

Don,

Thanks. I am sure that the Dutchmen's intent was that it would be a queen size in our model. The mattress manufacturer could be short changing Dutchmen?? Make a mattress one inch short, get a free mattress every 77 or so...

I could have went with the regular queen, but from reading, there needed to be a solid base, I opted for the short, to keep from extending the base.

I am excitedly waiting for this new mattress...I hope it doesn't disappoint us...

Cale
