Side ladder

Another newbie question...is it prudent to remove ladder (from side) when under way or do we just leave it on.

I leave mine at home and carry a real ladder.

I have always left mine on and slide a smaller 4-foot aluminum ladder between the side ladder and the camper. I bungee it on. The smaller ladder in case I need to fix something inside or around the outside. Of course the side ladder in case I need to get onto the roof.

I don't trust the side ladder. Mine is in my garage.

I'd rate that ladder at about 150lbs. If I put my 268 on the ladder, it would rip it off the wall.

I put my ladder in the RV garage when underway for safety and total width issues, and reinstall it when we get to our destination. I have my Flag pole holder mounted to it up high on the ladder. I use a 4 foot ladder to step on to the ladder so I am near the middle if I need to climb up. I weigh 250lbs and have had no problems climbing the ladder and it feels strong enough.

Best to remove, the top rung that hooks over roof mount, of ours, got damaged by low tree branches.
