Self Healing Slide

I don't know exactly how to say this but here goes. My living room slide has been popping on one side at the top since almost new. I lubed it and it still popped. Seems like the gear was missing a tooth on the rail when the slide was almost all the way in and again as it was going out. It popped about three times each way, so not the entire way in or out.

I made an appointment at Camping World for this Wednesday.

Well we took the trailer out a few days ago and when we set up it did not pop at all on the way out, or when coming back in. I extended and retracted it again. Smooth and silent.

Got back home and have run it in and out several times. All is OK.

Now it would be a waste of my time to take it in for a repair when it is not acting up.

I have no confidence that it will remain working well though. What to do.

My opinion... If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!

Your mileage may vary...

I'm guessing that the whole slide was out of alignment on its tooth-rails and your trip, bouncing down the road, put things back to where they belong. I'd cancel the appointment - no sense paying for a diagnostic visit if it seems to be behaving.

Yeah, but it has bounced down the road many times before. Actually, it tows pretty darn smooth.

The only thing that was different was last time out. When the trailer did it's Self Level, it lifted the drivers side wheels off the ground. The campsite was not so far out of level that it should have did that, but it did.

Guess, I'll keep operating the slide in question up until the appointment date.

My large slide has popped a couple of times. Seems smooth at the moment. I had to clean a bunch of crap out of the rack on both sides. I think all electric slides are noisy, even the rack and pinion style. At least the ones I had were. They all sound like somethings going to break. I hope they only sound like it! Time will tell.
