Bedroom A/C
Need a little advice. The bedroom AC keeps tripping the breaker? filter is clean as can be, it's about 95 outside and I'm connected to 50 amp service. It will run for 10 minutes or so before tripping, any ideas? Bad breaker, lose wire?

Mine did that for the first two times I used it on vacation this past month. After that worked fine for the rest of vacation. I was in some 110 temperatures in Las Vegas with no more problem.

My last fifth wheel had the same issue. I replaced the circuit breaker and all was well, no more tripping.

You might check the next time it trips...as to what all is drawing current.
Refrigerator? Water heater? TVs? AC units (2? 3?) and perhaps other loads?
As azdryheat comments, it could be that the AC unit that keeps tripping has the most sensitive breaker.
Or it just might be that given the outside temp, there is too much demand. Perhaps try switching the fridge to propane and see if the AC unit stays on line?
Just thoughts,
Pirate

I'm sure you have... but make sure it has a 20 amp breaker and not a 15 amp breaker. That will cause it to trip when worked too hard! How do I know this one might ask my travel trailer had a 15 amp instead of 20, and it took a couple of looks to discover it. Installed proper breaker, problem solved. Geez, wonder how that happened

It is a 15 amp breaker, and I suspected it was undersized from the start. I tried all the usual, but the A/C was tripping with no other electricity being used except the main A/C. I always run the fridge and water heater on propane, even if I'm hooked to 50 amp service. LED lights in all fixtures, no TV's on, no stereo, etc. etc.
Anyone have a good outlet for those breakers? I believe it's a Eaton C-H piggyback, it has two circuits on it.

Eaton 20 Amp Double-Pole CH Type Breaker-CH220 at The Home Depot try this place.
CH stands for Cutler Hammer type breaker, I don't know the difference between a CH and a Square D so you might want to take it with you. The mounting tang might be different for the CH.

It's a single pole breaker 20 amp. I believe I did get it at Home Depot, but as suggested take it with you. Just curious, your other AC is 20 amp right?

Meant to say... mine is a single pole breaker 20 amp. Not sure why you would have a double pole but I didn't put it together either

Take the breaker to a decent electric supply house and they should be able to match it. If all else fails try a mobile home supply house. Is it a half sized breaker?

Looks like you have received some good advice here. Just thought I would mention that during one of my trips the campground I was at had low voltage due to hot weather. I could not run all 3 of my ac units without the breaker tripping. I started my generator and it ran without a problem. With everyone in the campground running their ac at full blast, the voltage dropped. When the voltage is low the current must go up, therefore tripping the breaker.

If you have not all ready bought your replacement breaker, get a spare and install it in a blank spot in the panel if there is one available. That way you will have one if you need it.
Just a safety note, make sure your powered down while working in your electrical panel.... I don't want you to have a bad day!

Hi, I picked up a 2015 3970 Friday . I had a problem with the rear A/C. The tech found an unplugged control line. That fixed that problem . The A/C in the living area is not cooling down the room and it runs all the time. The tech checked it out and said the temp readings where within spec guidelines. I have read on here somewhere that he ducts might have some trash in them or the taping is not right. I think that there is not enough air flow. The A/C should cycle on and off when the temp is satisfied. So far the A/C runs all the time and is not cooling the area. Can any one give me any info of what they think could be the problem. Thanks Jim
