Check valves allow liquids to flow one way only. With that being said, the flow from the supply lines would be toward the faucet, just as it is now so check valves would be a wasted exercise.

Just a small mystery but the scientific answer says hot water molecules are lighter than cold water molecules and therefore rise to the highest point to be ready make you dance in the soapy shower.
