I wouldn't diamond plate. Slippery. I've heard some people put down Linex or similar type of bed liner with success.

X2 on Condor. Holds bike up steady even while you're strapping. If you buy a second inexpensive bracket, you can use it on a second trailer or you buddies can use it. Under $300 I think.

Some of the more industrious members have chiseled off the screws the factory installed. I didn't see a problem with cutting and patching. I used black silicone caulk.

I cut my access then install a patch with short screws and caulk. A lot of guys just cut three sides (leaving the front hinged) then tape and caulk.
