Yes exactly. The mfg would default to cheapest and easiest, which would be thinner stuff.

I'm shocked that the manufacturer even used 6 gauge. I think mine is 10 or 12 from battery to control panel? My inverter is installed with 2 gauge at about 5' wire length from batteries. Still...
