Best 17.5 tire
Hoping someone here might help me decide which tire to buy. Looking at Goodyear continental Hercules and Salian About $250 dollars difference from cheapest to most expensive. Cost really isn't much of an issue, just don't want to spend $1000 extra if I don't need to

It s great to hear the continentals are liked.. I am buying a set of 17.5 Continentals this week.. I am so tired of blowouts and torn up fenders.. I have Continentals on my truck.. never an issue and great running/riding tires..

When I spoke to the gentlemen at the shop where I ordered the wheels and tires, he highly recommended them and my father in law had gone thru them in the past for tires so I trusted his expertise and have never looked back on this choice. I have about 3000 miles on them so far.

Hankook tires posted above
With that combo I put together mine was $100 less per set than that.

I ordered 235/75R17.5 and paid $605 each plus shipping. As stated...couldn't be happier.

I originally had 235/80R16 tires and I compared them here:
https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...16-235-75r17.5
The width was the same as my stockers and the height was about 1/2" taller. I did discover that the sidewall is the same width from the wheel to the street whereas the stock tires tapered from the wheel to the street, so I have about 2" more rubber in contact with the ground.
If you haven't seen this thread it's worth spending the time:

Ok guys. I am going to put the 17.5 inch tires on my Voltage. My first question is about clearance, is there enough etc? Also, what is a good wheel to use?

Just wait for it. Desert Rat will be here to answer all your questions.
Also, what are you planning to put the new wheels and tires on?

I was concerned about clearance when I put on the 235s, but haven't had a problem. I have dual axles and not triples and the original tires were 235/80R16. This is where some of us purchased our wheels and tires: 17.5" 8 Lug Series 07 Black Hi Spec Aluminum Trailer Wheel
Michael is a stand-up guy and will answer questions you may have.

I went with the Continental 215's - delivered the day after I ordered them. Haven't towed the rig yet, but they are much more substantial than the 16" Westlakes. Price sounds about right.
