Dutch oven recipes
Anyone have any awesome desert ideas for a Dutch oven for mid-October time frame? I heard that Monkey pull apart breads in there are pretty good, and does not look that difficult. Any and all suggestions are acceptable. Thank you

Dump Cobblers
You dump in a couple cans of fruit, throw in a couple boxes of Jiffy yellow cake mix, cut up a stick of butter, put the pats on the cake mix, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Bake.
Another one that is fun is swirl cake, I put mine over apple pie filling.

Thank you, we have tried a few cobblers already, and they turned out okay. My lesson that I learned when putting charcoal in a fire pit, make sure the bottom of the fire pit is completely dry, as when you put the coals on there, they soak up all the moisture. Going to try putting aluminum foil down first, then the coals and see how that works. Send me more suggestions if you have any, I want to try something that goes over well, and is not too difficult to make, also maybe something with pumpkin in it since it is going to be October! Thanks again, happy camping!

All kinds of stuff really. We've made cobbler, brownies, doughnuts, coffee cake, apple crisp, and plenty of other stuff. Some major successes and some REAL flops. haha! The doughnuts were the most fun though.
Here's a good link to all sorts of dutch oven cooking info and a lot of recipes. He makes dough from scratch but sometimes you just wanna keep things simple and go the pillsbury dough tube route ya know? :

I use a 14"? deep dish pizza pan under my oven to contain the charcoal, I have seen some good sized deep square pans used too. I think I picked my pan up at a thrift store for $1. The foil will work, and if you make large enough it can be wrapped around the ash to dispose of it when it cools.
There isn't much that can't be cooked in the dutch ovens. My son is a master cook when it comes to the DO. I have seen him produce things like; Red Velvet Cake, Pound Cake, Peppermint Pound cake, Apple pies, deep dish lasagna, Brunswick stew, etc, etc. Another trick that I have seen him do is stack. He puts the longest cooking item on the bottom, then stacks another oven on top, with something faster cooking in it. I have seen him have up to 4 ovens in a stack and 8 ovens going at one time. I taught him the basics when he was in the Cub Scouts and he took the oven and ran with it.

Made a delicious corn bread and then made a chocolate cake with pudding and chocolate chips that turned out awesome this past weekend. Great camping weather for Mid-October at Yogi Bear's Jellystone in South Haven, MI.

Not that I am aware of. We used to make it in old coffee cans, and I do have a couple of hand cranked 6 quart ice cream freezers.
