A member with a 1995 Dutchman RV described ongoing problems with their Atwood 8500 furnace, including the blower running continuously and blowing cold air after initial ignition. Despite replacing the sail switch, control board, and high limit switch, the issue persisted. The member discovered a melted wire near the heat exchanger, repaired it, and experimented with wiring a new blower motor board. Ultimately, the root cause appeared to be a faulty thermostat, which, once replaced... More...

Hi I have been fighting my Atwood furnace. It's a 8500. The furnace would inginte blow heat. Then the blower motor would keep running blowing cold air. It wouldn't shut off until I shut the thermostat off. Wait awhile then turn it back on. This would go on for days. So I replaced the sail switch Replacement of the board. Then I dug into the high limit switch. The board did no fix it. So I put back in the old board. Everything worked for a couple hours. Then the furnace quits. So I looked where the limit switch is. And noticed one of the wires melted against the heat exchanger. So I fixed the wire. So still fighting this furnace. The furnace has two electric boards. Here are some photos. These are the original boards in my RV. The little board supplies power to the blower motor. Which there is power going in but nothing coming out. The board replaced the little board. My question is how do I go about wiring for the new board?

Sounds like you have done quite a bit of work and trouble shooting here. I don't have any suggestions other than maybe trying to just replace it with new. Unless you know someone that repairs these I think you will have a hard time finding the parts.

I would check on line with Recpro and Trekwood and then maybe etrailer. But that is just a guess.

So I figured it out. So you take the power wire from the old plug. Cut it and put a female connector on it. Plug it on the new board. Take the blue wire and do the same thing. Here to find out my newer Thermostat went bad. So I placed it so far so good 😊 😊 😊 😊.

If my intermittent problems keep up, I may try this.

Nearly every trip, I remove the igniter, place it 1/4” from the screen and it will work for the rest of the trip, but after parking in storage and taking out and going camping, the process repeats.

After I replaced the Thermostat, sail switch, limit switch, new board, It works for awhile then it will not shut off just keeps running and blowing cold air. Then I have reset my thermostat. Then it works for awhile.
