Trailair Tri-Glide hitch failure

Took a total of four calls but the hitch was delivered just after 8 last night. Anyone need a good lower jaw or airbag? LOL

Just following up on this thread...

I finally received the new Flex Air hitch from Lippert early last month (October), and just got the rig back from the shop yesterday. They weren't slow... I told them "no hurry", as I wouldn't need it until spring... and I gave them a 3-page 'laundry list' of repairs & modifications I wanted done.

The Tri-Glide that failed on me had an 18,000 lb rating... but since Lippert was going to be out of stock on 18k Flex Air units for the foreseeable future, they sent me a 21k unit. Also of note... they aren't made under the "Lippert" branding anymore, but under the "Curt" brand... which they've recently acquired. Since Curt was previously a sub-brand under Reese, I'm not sure if they bought them out too... but that's another subject.

Anyway, I know it's just a hitch... but here are a few photos if anyone cares:

On an unrelated note... one of the things on the list was having them repair the bodywork from the tire blowout I had outside of Omaha last May. While not perfect, they did a pretty decent job on it.

After my experience with Lippert, I can’t help but wonder if it has the Curt name purely to get away from the Trailaire/Lippert name associated with it? Just a thought

I had the same thought... did your replacement hitch have it also, or still Lippert?

Hi all! I had the same problem on my 2014 3800 voltage so I nicely emailed Lippert with my specs and concerns, mentioned that I’ve been seeing a lot of talk of failures in the internet. They immediately sent me a NEW hitch. Now THAT’S customer service.
I’d suggest any concerns get hold of their customer service department

Trailair tri flex almost failure.

Picked up a 2014 Voltage 3200 in 2020. I have been running around with it for four years. Trailer was almost brand new when I got it still had plastic cover on refrigerator. Unit was stored under a cover someplace. Put lots of miles on unit in four years (@50K) . Greased tri-flex every time I greased axles (@1k miles). Some weird movement started on hitch a few months ago and got worse. I did a detailed inspection and found two of the three tri-flex pins had broken off on both sides. If last pin broke would have lost trailer. Why did Lippert never do a recall on these Pin Boxes?

Being the second owner, you probably would not get the notifications. Also, they have recalls called “technical bulletins”. The TB’s are issued to the dealer and not sent out to the owner. Also, be sure to check the lippert site for any recalls.
