New on TT going to Phoenix area on may

Hi we just bought a 263HBWE Coleman .
We live in Rio Rancho and we are planing a trip to Tucson AZ in May.

The TT comes with 13500 BTU on roof
This will be enough ?

Any suggestions for the hot weather?

It shouldn't be that hot in May but they are predicting 100 degree temps in Phoenix this week.

You'll be running the A/C for most of your time there I'm sure. As to what to do about the hot weather, go to a hotel and use their cold air.

They probably should have ordered it with the 15,000 btu instead. But you have to run what ya brung. I would look for a shady camp site to help take the load off and hope for the best. I live in the deep south where shade trees are the norm and we take full advantage of them in the warmer months.

Ever spend any time in Arizona Aaron? There are tall pines up in Flagstaff, Palm trees in Tucson and Phoenix and the rest are Mesquite and scrub Oak.
Very few worthy of parking a rig under, either too tall or too short. But there is plenty of sunshine for solar.

I was in SkyHarbor... once.

I took a fiver out to Mesa in September one year, frost in the morning up near Show Low, and hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk that afternoon in Mesa. But it was a dry heat.

The perfect time of the year NOT to be there.
We would come from southern Arizona up to Phoenix in the dead of summer so the high dollar resorts would be cheap and empty.

I’m sorry, but I always laugh when I see these type questions: will 1 a/c keep me cool in the desert... will my ½ ton truck be enough to pull a 7 ton trailer... will a cheap $20 Harbor Freight wheel chock be good enough to protect my $20-thousand-plus full dresser motorcycle inside my $50-thousand plus RV... etc.

I mean... c’mon. If you’re smart enough to ask the question, then you already KNOW the correct answer! You’re just hoping that you’ll find someone... ANYONE... that’ll tell you that what you already have will work.

We generally chase temps in the 70's! That being said we have found ourselves in warmer temps and I find in addition to running the AC a small fan or two can help to circulate the cold air. For instance we tend to get a lot of the cold air into the bathroom. We place a fan in the bathroom door to help pull that out of there. Good luck and welcome!

I've lived in Phoenix 29 years and the A/C will not keep up with the daytime temps. It will be over 100* in May and the sun will be brutal. If you plan on going to Mt Lemon, or other similar altitude, during the day and only hang out in the trailer at night you will be happier, but not totally cool. As of today most of the RV parks are, at best, half empty with most of the rest of the snowbirds leaving very soon. Come back in November, or later, and you will be much more comfortable.

It's already getting warm here in Tucson. The temp was pushing 90 today. Me, I'd choose a motel for may stay here.
